Tim Horton's Butter Tarts! Yum indeed! Timmy also makes some mighty good tuna sandwiches. It's my official Frutrip food now, with a record of three in two days during the Pointe-Claire/Kingston weekend. I think the employees of the Timmy right off Steeles in TO may permenantly spooked by Fruheads. Thank ChrisO and the Lettuce Incident. - -- Ingrid "I'm 34. I grew up in central Pennsylvania. (Yes, thank you, that's what the accent *actually* is. The vowels are flattened in a completely different way.) Scrapple is good. Especially with real maple syrup poured over it... Of course, I'm now discovering just how different food on the west coast is from food in New England... you can't get a good bagle in California. Or Armenian string cheese. (Anyone coming out for the fru-show in San Francisco, if you smuggle me some string cheese, the real stuff, I'll love you forever!) You can't get sherbert coolers out here. Trust me, I've been on a quest. You can, however, get avacado. On just about everything. Random: isn't poutine the gravy itself? 'cuz at least in Nova Scotia you can buy cans of poutine and pour it over things other than french fries... ____ \ /__ Caitlin Xantha Hazen \/ / caitlin@wayward-volvo.org \/ http://www.wayward-volvo.org/xanthe.html On Wed, 9 Sep 1998 cricket5@hotmail.com wrote: > In article , > kevin@localhost.localdomain (Kevin Way) wrote: > > On 9 Sep 1998 06:00:51 GMT, DALevy wrote: > > >Unlike poutine, scrapple is pretty disgusting. All you ska fans check out The Offbeatniks, for the finest in Davis ska. I've only seen them a couple of times, but I've been impressed enough to warrant keeping my ears open. The other Davis ska band, Punch the Clown, is also supposed to be good, but I'm always somewhere else whenever they're playing. If you're in the South Bay, Monkey is pretty good. In the non-ska category (why are there so many ska bands around? Is it just me? Is it just California? Do the rest of you have zillions of ska bands running around?), Golden Bough and Tempest are Celtic folk/rock groups. Both very good. Tempest is the more electric and eclectic one (electric fiddle solos, anyone? Double-necked electric mandolin?); Golden Bough is mellower and more traditional-sounding. And in the used-to-be-local-but-isn't-anymore category: Heather Alexander, a modern Celtic folk singer. - --nicole the wonder nerd who realizes that she's been defining "local" rather loosely, inasmuch as Golden Bough hails from Pacifica. - -----== Posted via Deja News, The Leader in Internet Discussion ==----- http://www.dejanews.com/rg_mkgrp.xp Create Your Own Free Member Forum ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 09 Sep 1998 16:51:18 GMT From: ceelove@ibm.net (Colleen Campbell) Subject: Tempest in NoHo. . .oh, and cee there too On Wed, 09 Sep 1998 15:58:33 GMT, nnicole11280@my-dejanews.com wrote: >Golden Bough and Tempest are Celtic folk/rock groups. They're playing the Iron Horse on Thursday the 24th, and I'm a-skippin' out of work to go. Coincidentally enough, the significant something-or-other will be accompanying me. We'll be looking for crash space, though not desperately, as both of us have friends in the area. Anyone *really* want to put us up that night? *smile* We're heading out from there for camping, possibly a bit of the Appalachian Trail or somesuch. Just think, it may be your chance to see the lad who stole ceecee away from ya's. *grin* Or join us for good music at the Iron Horse! Or at the very least, get one of them backrubs from me. . . ceecee ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 09 Sep 1998 16:58:20 GMT From: box99@mci2000.com Subject: ADVERTISEMENT ASTOUNDING POTENTIAL RETURNS!
