Sounds like you know more than the average bear about this show. Do you know how to get tickets? Is there a number or something we can call? Thanks! As for information I actually know: Ludlow's is a great bar in Columbus OH. The following in Columbus is pretty big and Ludlow's is a decent place. The stage is on the smallish side, but is up high, so large people can stand in front without making people angry. There is a small place (maybe 30x20) for standing people in front of the stage (which last time was packed with BGSU students!!! Ah, my first BGS-Fru show...). Ludlow's was not 21+ last time. I don't know how Ludlow's works, but many non-21+ places only card for 21+. Your mileage may vary, but if you aren't driving too far, it seems a better change than not getting carded at a 21+ show. The Second Story is a wonderfully small bar in Bloomington. I'm starting to get worried about the lads overflowing the place. I wonder if we'll have enough people to stand the whole time up front. What do you think, Josh? If you have any questions about either of the two places, just email or post and I'll see what I can do to get answers to you. - Chad ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 08 Sep 1998 15:53:52 GMT From: "Nowik, George" Subject: RE: Canadian Cuisine? acquired taste? maybe. it only took me about 2.4 seconds to acquire it. *grin* poutine stand at frucon 2. any possibilities? Sept. 16... then looked at my schedule for school. Brilliant move. Anyways... I have a late class on Wednesdays, so I won't be there next Wednesday for the meeting. So people can still meet that day, or postpone the whole shebang until the next day, Thursday, September 17, 1998. Being that I know there's a concert on Wednesday, (is there one Thursday?) this might actually work out better) (Wow.. my newserver actually pulls in a lot of posts now! Yipee!) Earlier I was thinking that XPN would be playing whole sets, which were originally about 45 minutes to an hour, as I recall --maybe more. But I heard a few sets today as I was in and out of my office, and it seemed like they were about half an hour each. Also, they didn't seem to be playing them in the order in which they originally occurred, which worries me some. Guess I'll be sticking closer to the radio tomorrow! Good luck -- hope this helps! - --amy (suddenly delurked again and posting like crazy -- hey, here's a cover-tune wish-list idea...anyone remember that song that goes "I don't want to work, I just want to bang on the drum all day" ... *sigh*) Brian Nicholson wrote in article <6sm4ld$1jt6$1@newssvr03-int.news.prodigy.com>... > wow... that sucks... could anybody answer my question, tho'? They seem to have roots similar to Früvous, formed in 1990, put out some independant albums, and now have a label. This seems like a cool band to see in concert some day... I was wondering if there are any other local type bands we should be looking for. I know my posts talk of The Nields, Eddie From Ohio, Ben Folds Five, and of course, They Might Be Giants... Can everyone perhaps post about a good, but small band? Finally, here is a plea: HEY FRÜVOUS! I want a northern New York concert! Namely, Potsdam-Canton area. Right here on Clakrson Unversity campus would be nice... later, tom. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 08 Sep 1998 17:22:03 GMT From: wahrend@my-dejanews.com Subject: NoHo, a go go! All. I've made my arrangements for lodging at the Motel 6 that CeeCee posted earlier (did it last week friday so I can't vouch for open rooms now). We've got at least 3 occupants (and maybe 4), so we should have some floor space (although I doubt that there will be enough room for more than 2 or 3). Beyond that, what are people planning to do pre-show(s)? I'm thinking of heading up to Green Mountain National Park in Vermont on Friday, Saturday: perhaps Boston or Providence. It's like pizza and sex: no matter how bad it is, it's still pretty good ;) Although I'm not sure that's true about sex... (but let's not go there) Nonetheless, it's still pretty amazing that they had *poutine* in friggin' *Burk's Falls*! (Don't get me wrong -- I love the place.)
