Generally you sign up at a show. The card idea might work, but you could also ask someone at the next show to sign you up. As a matter of fact, I'll be at Owen Sound this weekend, so if you email me your particulars, I'll sign you up! - -Zard "Veni, Vidi, Velcro" - I came, I saw, I stuck around. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 13 Aug 1998 04:26:38 GMT From: seqiro@mail2.nai.net (Paul D. It would certainly make it an awful long way, and a contender for "farthest distance driven", along with the Texan contingent (not looking at an atlas as /me says this..). But, if Richard B. comes from the UK, that would have to rank as furthest. And I'm BETTING that Doug Levy would be showing up from Cal. Any others out there want to enter in the running?? (and for more elaboration/reviews, check Live Show Reviews, Feb. 21, on FDC...) The First Annual Fruhead Convention, as it came to be called after we started to have reasonable expectations that it might, indeed, be a yearly occurrence, was a chance for Fruheads from across the continent to get together to share in our silliness! At the guys' request, it was organized around the Fruvous and Friends for Choice benefit show in Toronto, which was on Saturday night, so that for 4 hours on Saturday, all the Fruheads who had converged on Toronto (just about 100 in all) showed up to mill around and play games. What we did: as folks were registered, they filled out a questionnaire, which Gordon provided; there was a t-shirt signing table, where everyone signed shirts for the guys; a flag-signing table (*tsk, tsk* but fun); group photos; videos shown - all of the guys' videos, and some early educational work they had done; snacks; guitar playing and sing-along; dodging and talking to the folks who were taping bits for the "Mr. Jones" tv show (forbidden next time, IMHO - they were a little too obtrusive...); general milling about and meeting folks; a raffle for rare Fruvous items (donated by MFHQ); and at the end, the guys showed up and did a short set of "rare-bits" - the stuff you never get to see at shows. If I may be so bold, it was brilliant, and I'm fulling expecting about 4 times that many folks to show up for the next one!! (have to find a bigger meeting room!!) There was even an official FruCon I t-shirt printed up afterwards, with a design approved by the guys. Hope this answers some questions!! And I hope it convinces you to show up for the next one!! - -Zard "Veni, Vidi, Velcro" - I came, I saw, I stuck around. ------------------------------ Date: 13 Aug 1998 04:44:15 GMT From: zardsnod@aol.com (ZardSnod) Subject: IRC chat night... Back when #moxyfruvous Chat was young (in the days when they were filming "Quest for Fire"), we had a specified time and day of the week when folks would really try to show up, if they were only going to show up every now and then. Then you knew that you could have a good chat. I'd like to try to reinstate that, and ask folks to show up on Wednesday evenings at or after 8pm. I know, I know... SouthPark comes on during that time... But, hey, show up before and after, and those of us without cable will continue while you watch. Hope to see some of y'all there next week! - -Zard "Veni, Vidi, Velcro" - I came, I saw, I stuck around. ------------------------------ Date: 13 Aug 1998 04:59:33 GMT From: zardsnod@aol.com (ZardSnod) Subject: Re: Canadian customs Novac wrote: >there's just something unappealing about pizza when you go in, >point to the cold piece you want, and they reheat it for you. I asked for mushroom pizza, and they dumped some cold, canned mushrooms out of the can onto a congealed piece of cheese pizza - popped into the oven for about 30 seconds, and slapped it on a droopy cardboard plate for me.
