Having lived on the border for a long time... (yeah Buffalo!) I have never had any problems crossing the border via a car. I never had to check my insurance or carry my passport (although I guess both are a good idea). Typically the border patrol person is pretty friendly (aren't most canadians?) and all you need do is tell them you're from the states, going to toronto cause you're a Moxy Fruvous nut, and just let you in *wink*. Are any of you going to be there? They are my favorite band, I think they are totally awesome. My favorite album is "Wood", and I love the way Jian moves his hips in "I Love my Boss"! Of course idle banter is fine. But I think many among us forget that posting something on the newsgroup is posting it in a very public forum. Sometimes it would be wise to think twice before hitting the "send" button. One way to think about it: If you wouldn't want the words to show up in a newspaper for everyone to see and to be filed away in libraries for years, then the words don't belong on an Internet newsgroup. OK, I'll stop now. Now, all you have to do is *stay* delurked. ;) I'll be at the Friday show... and at the Saturday show, and - very possibly - at the Sunday show. Depending on when they go on. Come say hi! I am 5'5", have long brown hair (which'll probably be in a ponytail, unless it's not windy at ALL) and will probably wear my FruCon I T-shirt (the black one). Maybe it's because I don't belong to the MIT group, but I did perceive those remarks as a joke, and the 7/31 comment seemed to me more an appreciation of the Fruhead contingent at MIT than putting down of them/you. The feeling that they (the MIT crowd) were appreciating it, too - cheering and joking and the like - strengthened the feeling that this banter was all in good faith. I *am* aware, though, that performers in general do sometimes take their jokes a bit too far, and hurt people in the process. The FruLads aren't angels, and so I don't hold them an exception to that rule. Though, I must say, they (and especially Jian) have been *very* aware and careful about what they say on stage. >I hope you can understand why some people might be rubbed the >wrong way by technophobic generalizations. Fruvous strikes me as... I don't know, as *non*-technophobic as it gets! They owe a LARGE part of their fan base to the power of the Internet, as it were. They read the newsgroup, and they have a website. Doesn't sound technophobic to me. *shrug* ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Vika [VEE-kah] Zafrin Patron Saint of Caffeine dacilen at bu dot edu aka Coffee Fru "You and your hula dance of culinary delight..." -ceecee ------------------------------ End of alt.music.moxy-fruvous digest V1 #203 ********************************************
