Another chance to gush over Bela Fleck and the Flecktones. Yippee! The Cosmic Hippo sitting on my monitor is grinning big. I can't say enough good things about the Flute/Sax player. I saw my first Fleck show in a year maybe a week ago. At first I figured the guy was just a friend sitting in, but he's on the newest album. I haven't heard Live Art or the new album (what is it called?), but I have the self-titled, 3 Flew Over the Cuckoo's nest, Tales from the Acoustic Planet, and Flight of the Cosmic Hippo, plus a Bela only bluegrass CD. They are all incredible. But if you want to talk about cheesy, the lyrics on Wooten's solo CDs win the cheesy away, big time. - Chad ------------------------------ Date: 23 Jul 1998 21:40:41 GMT From: chrismoe95@aol.com (Chrismoe95) Subject: A Birthday in Fruland!! My gosh, Tony Trischka discussed in the Moxy Fruvous newsgroup! My day is made! Two of my favorite performer (well, FIVE of my favorite performers, if you want to nitpick) discussed in the same breath. Tony is an awesome player-- in fact, he inspired me to take up the banjo. I've seen him three times: once with Bela Fleck, with his old bluegrass band, Skyline, and once with The Tony Trischka Band, his newest band. Most of his current shows are with the TT Band, which is kind of a fusion sort of thing (banjo, electric guitar, bass, drums, and sax). It's not really like the Flecktones, but Flecktones fans like it. He is quite possibly the finest banjo player around. ------------------------------ Date: 24 Jul 1998 00:32:00 GMT From: fruwench@aol.com (FruWench) Subject: RE: greetings from Alberta! Really?
