People people people! Yes, I admittedly work for the corporate masses, but c'mon! I can't be asked to bite the hand that feeds me. B&N does a lot of work in the communities (as a girl who puts on exceedingly hot Curious George costumes to sit around and spread a little love to the disadvantaged youth, I've got some backing here). Yes, we are massive. Yes, we do tend to wipe out smaller bookstores. Yes, we even misfile books sometimes. I ask you, however, is it any wonder that a couple books are in the wrong section when the sheer volume of titles carried in one store is taken into account? I mean, really, we are allowed some margin of error. Just because we are a Fortune 500 company does not mean that we do not make mistakes, nor should it. And, Duke, in an effort to appease you, were the hatemonger's books filed under "New Age General?" That would hold books of all viewpoints on General New Age topics - pro or con. Just a thought. Plus we stock Moxy Fruvous. We're not the root of all evil in the world. All I am saying is give B&N a chance! According to my sister-in-law, who now works for Target after having worked for a whole series of big-box home centers and other mass-market housewares stores, it also is a really fair, equitable and caring employer. She has had nothing but good to say about their treatment of employees. I happen to like their merchandise because most of it seems to originate in countries where there are protective labor laws, no child labor, etc. A far cry from KMart or Pier One, who carry similar merchandise but most of it originates in China. - -- Lori ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 10 Nov 1998 09:01:08 GMT From: gemini@p3.net (Trace) Subject: Re: FruHaiku On Mon, 09 Nov 1998 19:20:26 GMT, Srm9988n@aol.com wrote: >Pardon us for a moment while we enjoy our mutual admiration society. > >Trace wrote: > >> It's gonna be fun meeting ya Lori :) > >You too Trace. I thought I'd share this with you all. It was nice(<-sarcasm). I wonder why this particular person took offense. If you feel as though I am not informed, please inform me, don't degrade and disrespect me becasue I don't have the information. Not very fair, and to be honest... a PERFECT example of my misperception of a good group of people. What is the point of the list? your desire to censor me? (ok, I admit that was below the belt, but so was his email) Which by the way, I'd like to thank all the people that did take the time to email me privately with constructive critisizm and/or positive feedback. My intention was not to stir up controversy, there is no controversy, I expressed my feelings thoughts and some questions. Any controversy is yours.
