I will be! /me dances around at the thought of it briefly before realizing that no one here knows her. Well I was looking for an opportune moment to post for the first time, this works. Let's see if I can make some semblance of an introduction... Hi! *wave* My name is Lacey and I'm from Ohio. I found Fruvous about a year ago, although I can't remember exactly how, BNL ng I think, and I've been lurking here for quite some time. After many failed attempts I made it to my first show 6/23 in Cinci. Nearly right in front, met the boys (well if they're going to leave the back door wide open...) wow, what an incredible time. :) um... I really don't know what else to say so I'll leave it at that for now. So if anyone sees a short haired chick more than likely checking her watch every 2 minutes til Fruvous hits the stage, it's probably me. If you overhear the words 'I'd give my right arm for them to play "On Her Doorstep"', then you'll know it's me. ;) ~Lace "it might be late but time is guided by open minds that fight disguises" nthrbns at netpluscom dot com rabbitbrush rubber stamps http://members.tripod.com/~rabbitbrush ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 08 Jul 1998 12:13:43 GMT From: dacilen@bu.edu (Vika Zafrin) Subject: Re: 21+ shows On Wed, 08 Jul 1998 01:37:35 GMT, nnicole1@my-dejanews.com wrote: Hi Nicole! I definitely think that calling the venue would be a good thing. They may tell you that it's a wristband thing - if you're over 21, you get a wristband and can get alcohol; they may tell you that if you bring a parent, you'll be fine; you never know. Swearing that you won't touch a drop of alcohol will work sometimes, but as far as I've heard, some states have laws that prohibit clubs to even *admit* anyone under the age of 21 into their establishment after a certain hour. I myself won't go into how stupid I think this is - I have to get to work *sometime* - but this is what I was told several times. Being open with a club and trying to work with them on the age issue, especially when you're three months away from your 21st birthday, will inevitably make you more likable to them: they won't feel like you're trying to sneak in behind their backs. I can't say enough good things about her. I don't know if she will be doing the show solo or with her new band, but either way, I am sure she will love her. and, if you are planning on taping the Fruvous show, if you wouldn't mind taping Patty as well, I think you will be glad that you did, and I would be appreciative as well. : ) - - Harry _____________________________________________________________________ You don't need to buy Internet access to use free Internet e-mail. Ask and you shall receive here at a.m.m-f. According to the Music Pier Box Office (609-525-9248 or 609-525-9249), the show is $15 and starts at 8pm. I'm just a recent conversion to the Fru way of life. :) TMBG-list is the They Might Be Giants mailing list. I guess in good times it has some They Might Be Giants content. Right now, not so much. Lawrence, whose post you replied to, is one of the highly respected members of the list. You know, the ones that actually post stuff people care about and such. It's good to see you over here, Lawrence. If you are masochistic and want email about people not being on topic or faking their own deaths in an email to the list, please subscribe to the TMBG-list. Email tmbg-list-request@tmbg.org with subscribe in the body should do I'd guess. Actually, in good times, the list isn't so bad, but just for the past 3 months or so, it's getting close to unbearable. - Chad ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 08 Jul 1998 09:31:57 -0500 From: Chad Maloney Subject: Re: 21+ shows nnicole1@my-dejanews.com wrote: > > Hi 'vryone, it's me, with severely curttailed Net access. Hi Nicole, Well, I'm over 21, but from seeing how things have gone in the past I'd recommend: 1) Call the venue and ask if it is 21+. If they say no, say Thank you very much and hang up. Else goto 2. 2) Ask them about arm bracelets or whatnot for underage people who just want to see the show. If they say yes, say Thank you very much and hang up. Else continue to 3. 3) Ask them if they'd let in someone under 21 with their parents. If they say yes, say Thank you very much and hang up. Else continue to 4. [Warning: I've never seen #4 work. Ever] 4) [Begin begging and pleading] Point out that you just want to see the music because you love Eddie from Ohio who is coming all the way out here from Virginia (or just say Ohio if you don't want them to be confused *grin*) and you'd gladly tattoo "Give me beer and DIE!" on your forehead if they let you come in. If they say okay, take family photos now, because after the tattoo they won't look so normal. 5) Just show up and see what happens. Sometimes the person working the door is actually a nice person. Imagine that. If the show is a reasonable distance from you, this may not be something you want to do. Good luck, Nicole. Hate to hear that you missed EFO when they come to see you. - Chad ------------------------------ End of alt.music.moxy-fruvous digest V1 #72 *******************************************
