As a professional fundraiser and events planner I am posting in the hope that those of you who are attending the United Way gig will consider what I am about to say. The United Way walk is a once a year fundraiser and takes nearly a year to plan by a group of dedicated staff and volunteers. This walk raises much needed funds for more than 200 Greater Torono social service agencies that help people that are less fortunate than ourselves. United Way is a charity that Fruvous has chosen to give their support to, and this 30 minute set is for the volunteers and walkers who have made a special effort to make the event a success. Please enjoy the show but try to lay as low as possible. The success of next year's event depends heavily on this year's participants having an enjoyable day with great entertainment! I am also hoping that you will consider walking (you'll get to see some of downtown Toronto) or making a donation to this great cause. I suggest that you consider your expense of a great day out to see Fruvous factor in gas, bus fare, food etc. and match that with a pledge/donation to the United Way. Your pledge/donation will help someone else less fortunate than you have something better in their life; a safe haven in a shelter for a mother and child; food on the table for Thanksgiving; or a ride to the hospital for an elderly person; or a million other things that the United Way makes possible. Here's hoping you have a great day...the weather is forcasted as great!
