Sara, perhaps you could confirm this?... mid-July It's a big weekend affair, when the whole downtown area becomes even more of a busker's haven than it usually is (Kingston is a beautiful city in the summer, and has huge numbers of tourists) It's not as big as the Halifax Busker's festival, though. I'm told (by my former housemate, who is from Lunenburg, NS) that it's something to be seen. A little off topic in places, but that's basically it. If someone reminds me closer to the actual time, I'll post the weekend on the NG. :) Veronica (who could not be happier to be back at school) - -- ***************************************************************************** And in the end | Veronica Gruneberg The love you take | Dept. of Biology Is equal to the love | Queen's University You make... | Kingston, Ontario ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 8 Sep 1998 16:13:53 EDT From: Srm9988n@aol.com Subject: Re: WXPN review No, Jianbabe, there was no Minnie the Moocher broadcast. Hope you got GE&H though. My spouse and I are trying to figure this out: (from Love Potion medley) is there such a place as 34th and Vine -- and if so is it possible to kiss a cop there? I strongly suspect this hypothetical location would actually be somewhere under the Schuylkill Expwy. The unfortunate thing is that you have to pay the fare to Ontario Place in order to get your hands on them; the store is inside the park. It's really a shame, because Beavertails are so good. Not good for you, mind. Maybe it's better they be restricted to the capital after all... Hey Ingrid: 2 posts in a row to you -- you can tell I've got a bunch of backlogged email. Anyway, if you think Burk's Falls poutine is a bit of a stretch, how 'bout Wolfville NS? It was made with something akin to Velveeta, and something else resembling roast beef gravy. Definitely not the real thing, but not bad. That's why I don't feel bad approximating at home with Franco-American gravy and, when desperate, mozzarella. - -- Lori ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 8 Sep 1998 16:41:51 EDT From: Srm9988n@aol.com Subject: Re: Canadian Cuisine? Don't know where else Beaver Tails are available, but a little-advertised fact, which I learned from an Ottawa Citizen columnist the weekend of the OFF, is that they were invented and marketed by an American. There's a line in there somewhere where the lead singer says "In 1985 Falco releases Rock Me Amadeus." (or whatever the right year is) On second thought, maybe it was just called 'Amadeus'. - - ben - -- Ben Cordes bcordes@quadri.hlo.dec.com Hardware Design Engineer, Compaq Computer Corporation ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 08 Sep 1998 20:48:52 GMT From: ingrid@ehmail.com Subject: Re: Canadian Cuisine? This very enthusiastic guy at a Beaver Tail stand last year gave hKatherine all this information on BT's. Basically, they're available in every major Canadian cities, except for Winnipeg, and they're originally from Ottawa. And btw, they're Beaver *Tails*. Beaver Tales are a totally different thing ;) And on another note, must every Canadian delicacy be so darn *fat*? Ingrid, dodging the dirty looks hKath is giving her because she didn't let *her* tell about the BT's. "I'm 34. Is anyone in the mood for a walk? :) I think the United Way homepage said it would be 4km which is not too far. If you want to double-check and even print off a registration form, go to www.uwgt.org. Let me know if you are going.
