Those guys aren't doing a great job on marketing them, like people have done with Nanaimo Bars. My friend in Ottawa had a great plan... maybe she'll make a million on it. I want to be the one with the ugly apron going, "Y'a-tu que'qu'un qui veut d'la gédille?"! (mystefying anybody here?) "Gédille" is an actual slang term (VERY slang - you'd have to go deeper into Québec to hear it) for poutine. It's rather disgusting. It means... Well, no matter. Ain't telling you if I want you guys to eat some again ;) But funny thing is, I actually had poutine sauce in my luggage at FruCon1... Okay, this is bordering obsession. Don't encourage me. Furthermore, I'm hungry. I haven't had a decent poutine in ages. *sigh* Ingrid - -- "I'm 34. Famco? Something like that, anyway. Point being... the song "Amadeus" which has a strikingly similar beat, and contains little snippits of info about Mozart. Hazarding a guess here as to where it came from, but it's the first thing I thought of when I heard the song, and it made me giggle. But I still say that the 80's are the decade that deserved to die! :) Veronica (who wishes she remembered just a little less about the 80's) - -- ***************************************************************************** And in the end | Veronica Gruneberg The love you take | Dept. of Biology Is equal to the love | Queen's University You make... | Kingston, Ontario ------------------------------ Date: 8 Sep 1998 17:35:33 GMT From: Gruneberg Veronica J <6vjg@qlink.queensu.ca> Subject: Re: Errors AAAAHHH!!! How can you call poutine horrible?!! Especially considering some of the foods you guys have (honestly... grits and GRAVY for BREAKFAST??!!) I don't know where you tried it, because I'll grant you there is some pretty horrible poutine out there, but if you're ever in Quebec, stop in "La Belle Province" (a fast food outlet all over the province) and pick some up. Then wash it down with some Tim Horton's coffee! :) As for the holidays, I'm going to be redundant and say that yes, we do have a Labour Day, same day as in the States, only with an extra letter. We don't have a President's Day (due in no small part to the fact that we don't HAVE a president) but we do have Victoria Day (as in Queen Victoria) and Boxing Day, which falls on the 26th of December, to name a few. :) Veronica (who likes being the fount of Canadian trivia) - -- ***************************************************************************** And in the end | Veronica Gruneberg The love you take | Dept. of Biology Is equal to the love | Queen's University You make... | Kingston, Ontario ------------------------------ Date: 8 Sep 1998 17:35:33 GMT From: Gruneberg Veronica J <6vjg@qlink.queensu.ca> Subject: Re: Errors AAAAHHH!!! They're not local, they're not THAT similar to Fruvous, but a lot of people like them. I'm you've heard of the Arrogant Worms... I saw them for the first time at this year's Summerfolk and LOVED them. Like hKath said, I can just picture Jian and Chris exchanging Shania pictures... Ingrid - -- "I'm 34.
