That is a load of BS!! I have never paid dues, and am not a member. They have separate prices for non-members (an extra $20 - ooooo, so expensive). However, no one is allowed in for just a day or a few hours. If you want to come in, you have to pay for the whole week as if you were camping there. I have been DYING for Fruvous to play somewhere in or around Pittsburgh during Pennsic. I could gaurentee at LEAST 4 or 5 maybe up to a dozen people in full medeival regalia at a show. Or more. I know I and at least one other person posted about the Bobs in a thread about "Psycho Killer," which they have also covered. You're right, their rendition of "Particle Man" is fantastic -- maybe second place only to the chorus of schoolkids singing it on the last track of Then: The Earlier Years. Maybe. :) Something I didn't mention last time: People who have DaVinci's Notebook's album "Bendy's Law" may also have noticed that Moxy Fruvous _and_ members of the Bobs guested on that recording, so you can play Six Degrees of Separation with all these people rather easily. - - jenn - ------ "The Bobs are awesome!" -- Murray Foster ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 21 Aug 1998 01:47:01 GMT From: MorpheusOB@aol.com Subject: New to the list Hi, my name's Tom. I've been putting off joining the group because I hate being a newbie somewhere. I've actually been listening to Moxy since 1992 and I've seen them a bunch of times. I will be asking for a bit of a favor for the October 30/31 shows in Massachusetts. If anyone is going to these shows, it will be real important that I get a tape of the show, and maybe some pictures. If anyone is going to one or more of these shows, please e-mail me if you can help, and I 'll fill you in as to why it's so important to me. Thanks. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 21 Aug 1998 01:47:28 GMT From: aeves@alpha.confederationc.on.ca Subject: Re: Cover tune wish list What songs would you like to hear Moxy Früvous perform that you think they > could do as well as or better than the original performers? > > My initial vote is for "Hell" by Squirrel Nut Zippers, with Dave on > accordion. Off the top of my head, two songs that come to mind are from BNL's "Maybe You Should Drive" cd: 'Life, In a Nutshell' 'The Wrong Man was Convicted' (Murray on lead) Other songs: 'Home for a Rest' (SOTW) 'Love Shack' Drea - -----== Posted via Deja News, The Leader in Internet Discussion ==----- http://www.dejanews.com/rg_mkgrp.xp Create Your Own Free Member Forum ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 21 Aug 1998 01:57:51 GMT From: arctic_moose@my-dejanews.com Subject: Re: Thanks and questions In article <8e2297f0.35dc2629@aol.com>, BBWMinors@aol.com wrote: > Hi there ... > I'd also like to throw two more bands into the mix re: what MF fans might > enjoy. Yeah, the Bobs are amazing... if you like TMBG and the Bobs' version of "Particle Man," you might be interested in this: they've also started doing a cover of "Dinner Bell" that kicks major butt... it's not recorded yet, but they're doing it live as of last night! I don't know about better, but I think they could do a killer version of "The Trees" by Rush. Another song they could play with is Xanadu, but they'd have to add some harmonies to it. In parts it would kind of remind me of Sahara... Now, if only Alex Lifeson had done more with Broon's Bane, that could have been a cool song for other bands to cover.
