My poor bewildered husband asked me very quietly after the show, "Did that guy really play for the Rangers?" He meant Mike, of course. We spent more time in the car than we did in SoNo, but had a wonderful trip. The gnomes are doing quite well in their native habitat, and seem to be recovering nicely from their onstage abuse at the hands of the ever-punning Jian. > Highlights for me? Alas, no photos of that particular moment. I do have some random shots from earlier in the show, and post-show bumming around (various früfans with lawn gnomes, etc.) Coming soon to a web site near you, once I get the film developed... Other stuff: if anyone has an idea of *when* Früvous is planning on playing San Francisco, please lemme know; I'll try and time one of my work trips to coincide with when they're playing out there... Also, I'm planning on making it to Sunday's portion of the B&J's Folk Fest, provided that the tix haven't already sold out. Jenn & I will call TicketBastard today. Thanks again, all; it was truly fun. I've actually seen the guys three or four times now (all in the past 3 months!) and I'm now an official Fruhead wannabe. But I've decided that I must be Grandma Fruhead, because I'm a little old for this. However, I don't feel so bad about it because I met Mike last night, and when I made the Grandma Fruhead comment to him he was very reassuring about the age thing, especially because he is a couple of years older than I am. He told me a story about having a dream about being 18, and then waking up and realizing that that was half a lifetime ago! Sorry about the rambling, guess I have more to say than I thought! Anyway, I hope I can also add some info here -- Colleen Campbell wrote in article <35c5b659.639540307@news2.ibm.net>... > On 3 Aug 1998 05:37:08 GMT, rvenkate@spiketrain.npa.uiuc.edu (Kumar > Venkateswar) wrote: > > >(something like Let's Play to the Chief?) > > An improv? > Actually I think that was the one about Rush Limbaugh -- The Greatest Man in America? What was it like? > Mike sang this one, and introduced it by saying it was a common affliction for the band. It's a new one, and I thought it was very pretty -- sort of ballad-like -- but my memory for actual lyrics is hazy. The other new one that I really like (it was the second time I'd heard it) is I Will Hold On -- I thought Jian did a nice job with it last night. In fact, I thought the whole show last night was fabulous. I've been going to that concert series for the past five or six years, and I have never _ever_ seen a crowd so huge. I was sitting pretty far back so I can only imagine what it must have looked like from the guys' vantage point -- they seemed pretty amazed. I just want to say that I believe Fruheads are among the nicest groups of people -- both online and in person! I hope to see many more shows, since now I am hooked -- just sad that they won't be back until at least the fall and possibly next year :( --Anyway, thanks for making the experience so great. Maybe I'll even post again (but I'll try to keep the babbling to a minimum!) - --amy (aka Grandma Fru -- or maybe just Auntie Fru? -- or maybe just the Fruwannabe!) ------------------------------ End of alt.music.moxy-fruvous digest V1 #187 ********************************************
