I'm sitting here watching VH1's new 'Where Are They Now' series, when what to my wondering eyes appears - Our Hero. I should've known to turn on the VCR, since it was on 80's bands, but I didn't see him in any of the 'who's on this episode' clips, so I figured I was safe. Silly me. At any rate, they showed some clips from 'Science' (of course) and then a shot or two of him at a trade show and a 5-10 second clip of him speaking at one of his presentations, intercut with web shots, since they were talking about Headspace. Overall, I'd say it was a good minute or two. I immediately dashed over to the VH1 website and started scanning their schedule for a repeat. According to their listings, this particular episode will be run again at 8p eastern/pacific on Thursday. So crank up those VCRs, folks. (For those who aren't interested in the whole programme, He appears almost exactly halfway through...when they start talking about 'piano bands', that's your cue. ;)) Robyn M This message powered by The Powerpuff Girls. ;) @ Robyn Moore @ http://www.alveus.com/kbrm/robyn.html @ You knew the job was dangerous when you took it. - S.C. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 29 Dec 1998 23:12:21 -0800 From: Robyn Moore Subject: Re: Alloy: questions, questions, questions... I ran into it in the TMDR section of one of the record stores I frequent a couple years ago, and even though I'd never heard of it before, I picked it up as an oddity. Unfortunately, it's been long enough since I've listened to it that I can't really comment on the music itself. Beach in '84 was not staying to meet him after the show. The club he played was quite small (seating capacity app. 500) and when he had finished he literally stepped off of the stage and walked into the audience as there were no dressing rooms or backstage area to speak of. My cousin had succeeded in getting my 17 year old self into the club but had also succeeded in getting plastered during the show so I was more concerned about driving home than anything else. I'll never forget the friendly British roadie I was talking to beforehand yelling to me as the lights dimmed and the synthesizer hum of "White City" began: "It's Dolby lad-you won't want to miss this!" He couldn't have given me better advice. M.
