I felt good/embarrassed that I could sing along with every single song in the thing. Love My Way by the Psych. Furs really brought me undone as this has always been one of my all-time faves/heart-tearers. I'm always a sucker for romantic/touching comedies like this, and the 80's music (along with Billy Idol's 'do what you gotta do' line) was a real scream. Am I the only one who outright cried at the end? P. G'day Peter, A belated welcome to the list to you, sir! >haha, the microsoft.com address...has caused *all* sorts of good & bad >things. >nah - I get the impression that people on this list (from my short time >here) are above all that crap. Sheesh, talk about timing, sorry 'bout that, if it's worth anything I do have a very healthy respect for NT workstation if that helps dispel the 'Mac bigot' picture you'd have likely gotten from me venting away there the other day after a particularly grungy day at work. Give me a minute, I'll see if I can put my other foot in my mouth too. ;-) You're dead right though, people on this list are above that sort of thing (and 364 days out of 365 that includes me, honest injun! ;-) - in fact a gentleman I'm honoured to call a friend, Dave Thurlow (yes, lucky hubby of our list Supreme Galactic Commander, Robin!), who you'll have seen on the list had a really good way of putting it: it's much like the way people argue over which football team is the best. There really is nothing too serious to it. >I feel like I fit right in. It must be the music. Good to hear! Again, welcome aboard. cheers, Paul. [Alloy creator, aka JustSomeGuy.] P.S. Sorry to the Alloyed for putting what could be an offline post on the list, I just thought a public apology more appropriate. Dare I say it, me and my big mouth from HELL! "I gave her my heart, she gave me a pen." That line, in particular, has a lot of meaning for me. Variations on it have appeared as my .sig line from time to time. I can't buy this myself. It is way outta my price range, but... This web site: http://www.concertposters.com/artifact.htm has a poster for a June 1988 concert at the Fillmore in San Francisco by none other than Thomas Dolby and the Lost Toy People. According to the info, the poster is original and in new mint condition and very rare, which I don't doubt at all. Here's the catch, for those of us with shallow pockets... it's $50. However, for the good of the order, I wanted to share this gem in the hopes that one of our number will snarf it up and gives it a proper home! I've never seen a Dolby concert poster for sale before. I too actually purchased this video and have just about worn it out. I think my favourite song is the main 'love' theme followed by the "what's this?, what's this?" Christmas Land song. That Danny Elfman can sure knock out a good tune. I think he does a couple of the character voices including the clown with the tear-away face. And a Big Howdy to Peter !!. (Better late than never). All figures are extremely beautiful artistically, female as well as male, though unfortunately there are few men who want to model for art classes. In three years at school I only had one male model. By then I was so used to drawing females exclusively that I found it very difficult to draw him. The structure of the back & shoulders is so much different, I kept going off the edge of the paper! Dave had a couple of interesting models in his classes, one of whom was an extremely tall & skinny man (they would take him for drawing classes ONLY!) and one of whom was a female bodybuilder.
