It's been at least 6 years since I was last in there so there was a lot of cleaning to do. I needed to make new fixer of course, and new stop bath, but I didn't have any new developer so I had to use the stuff that's been sitting in the bottle for 6 freaking years. Took a lot of experimentation before I got a ratio that would work. I lost my wee exposure cheat template too so it took some time to get a good print made. I don't think I'll be sending anyone a copy of this print. It's not so much that I'm embarassed to have people see me naked (I looked so different at that age that it seems more like a photo of someone else naked). It's just that the quality of the photography is pretty bad (I wasn't as good a photographer back then and taking a good self portrate with the timer is tricky even when you're experienced). So it's the quality of the photo that I'm more embarassed about (under exposed, poor depth of field, poor focus). Plus I found the negative in the bottom of a drawer of electronic parts so it was pretty scratched up. Still, for my own enjoyment it's kind of nice to see how sleek and trim I used to be. Not that I'm terribly overweight now, I'm just rather broad sholdered and barrel chested now. I think I'll make a wallet size print for my wife. Out of curiosity though, how many of us alloyites besides Robin and I have posed naked infront of the camera before? (Not counting baby pics). A better art modeling story was a friend of mine who was modeling in Asia for an artists and he video taped her "so he could paint her later". As a painter I have to say there are a few reasons a man might want a videotape of a naked woman, but painting from the tape ain't one of them. She's probably famous in certain Korean circles now. __Dave T ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 02 Dec 1998 23:47:58 -0500 From: MacSuirtain Subject: Re: Alloy: Re: alloy-digest V3 #322 Applebabe2@aol.com wrote: > You aren't the only one..... what channel was it on? It was on CBS on Tuesday night - I saw a bit on it in The Washington Post that morning. I have no idea if it was well advertised or not. I barely watch CBS anymore (occasionally, I watch "Chicago Hope" to see Peter Berg and remind myself that some Macalester graduates make it big) and I gave up my subscription to TVGuide. (Not counting baby pics). >> Well, I just miss it on a couple of counts. Just before Mark and I were married, I had some rather, um, interesting photos taken of myself at a professional studio that did that sort of thing. The little book of photos is in storage with the rest of our stuff, but as I recall, I was wearing lingerie for all of them. In another instance, a couple of years ago when I was staying in Tennessee for an internship, an unscrupulous housemate (whom I mistakenly considered a friend) used hidden cameras to videotape me getting in and out of the shower, going to the bathroom, and dressing and undressing for bed. He had six tapes' worth of raw footage, plus had made two tapes of highlights, before his setup was discovered and he was arrested. Having had to go through some of the videos myself after his arrest (to nail down exactly what he had been doing, and whether anyone else was affected), I can verify that I have appeared naked on camera. But I don't think that qualifies as "posing," and now the idea rather gives me the willies. (Of course, if I did make a nude photo in my current state, it might give everyone else the willies...) The season just keeps starting earlier and earlier...I saw The Grinch Who Stole Christmas at least a week before Thanksgiving on one of the Turner stations. Marketing keeps creeping up, too...used to be, Xmas didn't make it's big appearance until the day after Thanksgiving...then it was the day after Halloween...this year, I was seeing ads for Swiss Colony catalogues in August. I think my personal watershed for 'too much' was three or four years ago, when I heard the phrase 'shopping early for the holidays' sincerely used on one of the shopping channels by one of the hosts in the middle of July.
