Well!  I've been out working a second job (it seemed like a fun idea when I
thought of it but I'm not questioning my sanity), and I'm struggling to go
through all this mail.  Yes, I'll admit this was miles over my colonial
head.  Dare I ask the reference (I'm fearing that I may sound ignorant in
asking but I'm doing so anyway)?

I have always thought it meant Laughing Out Loud. There's also ROTFL! which
means Rolling On The Floor Laughing, one of my favorites :)
