I tried doing this myself about 9 months ago. I planned simply to consolidate the HTML files a little - grouping postings by the same person together instead of breaking them up into separate posts as the FES program insisted on doing, correcting spelling and grammar (tricky as we had a mix of British, Canadian, and US English to contend with), remove the most pointless plot eccentricities, post it on the web and try to encourage an end. But I got through only two chapters before I realised it was going to take ages, so I gave up. But I would love to see it finished. BTW, for the benefit of Web historians, FFB was my contribution to the FES three-letter-anagram discussion. It's not my fault, I blame The Fast Show (a comedy sketch show on BBC television). The show had a recurring sketch in which one of the actors played a hard-as-nails career woman, who would happily stomp on the faces of other women to get where she wants to be. Only whenever there's a man in the room she instantly reverts to a little girl voice, and becomes totally helpless and subservient. There was a sketch in which she's arguing fiercely about the diagnosis a female gynaecologist has given her when a male doctor comes in. Suddenly she's all smiles and she turns to him and says: "Can you help? I think I might have something wrong with my furry front bottom..." I laughed. So now you know.. Andrew, "Urban Tribal" is on a single called "Low Noise," which is a little project involving TD and a few other musicians. It's the B side, the A side being "Jungle Line." Both songs were performed as part of the "Live Wireless" concert film, which you saw on TV. The single is still available in some record stores...the amazing Melissa kindly found a copy for me in the D.C. area, for which I'm grateful--I always liked "Urban Tribal" since I saw that concert too! At some unspecified future date, Mr. Dolby may release this song and other rarities on CD, but this remains to be seen... I'm grateful for the info - I'll keep a look out for the single and wait patiently for the CD - if it ever comes....> I find it interesting that Urban Tribal was the 'B' to Jungle Line - I thought that was awful! There are so many of his songs I haven't heard yet & really would love to :) Robin T ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 13 Nov 1998 18:27:47 -0500 From: Rochelle Kirby <104040.2055@compuserve.com> Subject: Re: Alloy: Need Chapter 2 Message text written by INTERNET:alloy@smoe.org >But here .... how many of us would participate ... if several people wanted to follow on from the last posting, who's would be the one that was used? The logisitcs could be complicated.< I'm thinking I understand what this was. What if the people who want to participate acknowledge this upfront and turns are rotated. I.E. Instead of people randomly posting, each person has a turn. If others want to join in they would be put at "the back of the line," so to speak, and so it would go. My husband is keeping himself entertained with the new album by "Plan 9" (anyone else heard of them besides us?) and I'm making a tape for my mom. In case you need to ask who the tape is of, yes, it's a Dolby tape. She claims to not remember any of his music so I am attempting to enlighten her. She may show up here in Alloy (I've invited her here) so I figure she should know what the music is all about. TMDR's music never fails to keep me enthralled. I can't remember who said it, but his music doesn't sound a bit dated!! Will I ever tire of listening? And thanks to the people here I have found that I like the music of TGAOW even more than before (Airwaves is my new favorite from this album). I purchased Creatures 2 (was it Melissa who was also a Norn lover?) and have already killed one Norn (sigh). Do any other Alloy members have Norns? Sooo, what else is going on tonight? Just curious. When TMDR played Europa in concert here in '84 he led straight into Get Out Of My Mix from the last chorus of the song. A smooth and unexpected manuever that left me hollering for more! M.
