I'll even send postage first! I understand if you don't want to as you may become flooded with these requests! - -w ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 8 Nov 1998 14:20:42 EST From: Wargun2438@aol.com Subject: Re: Alloy: A TMDR Musical Request hey, cool idea! I don't think we would be taking royalties from Thomas, but it's still a touchy subject. But i would like this type of trading, too. Or else a reissue of all of Thomas' recordings ever made.... - -w ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 8 Nov 1998 18:27:36 -0500 From: Rochelle Kirby <104040.2055@compuserve.com> Subject: Re: Alloy: David Bowie likes Dave's paintings! Now I know why you said we probably have a lot in common when I wrote about taking my friends to the cemetary to scare them with 'Gothic'. (I suspect that I would like you if we met in person.. you seem similar to me in a lot of ways, ways that are lacking here in Ohio but in abundance in California, if that makes any sense). My husband says that I have to send a photo, that he will even take one of me in an old cemetary around here if I want. Who do I send it to? The page didn't specify who pictures are sent to. Message text written by INTERNET:alloy@smoe.org >Dave is a painter & illustrator. I'd love to know what you think of his work. Don't forget to sign our guestbook :) < Oh! I just realized I forgot to sign the guestbook. Anyways, my thoughts? I liked some and not others. I really liked 'Waiting for the Next Day.' My husband saw it totally differently than I did. I saw it as a dead mother and her child in the distance. He saw it as a dead woman and her husband in the distance. I see the child with angel wings (perhaps she's dead, too?) and an angel watching near the sun. I saved that one as wallpaper. It also reminded me of the Holocaust (as did a few others). I did not like 'Discreet Touch'. Is the tree bleeding from her touch? 'No One'd Seen Him Before or Since" reminded me of the Walking Dude from "The Stand" by Stephen King. I imagine that the boots is all someone would want to see of him. I liked 'Getting Used to the Storms' since it was appropriate to me. I grew up in San Francisco (SF) and have been through many earthquakes. Now that I live in Ohio I experience tornado sirens every Wednesday at noon and am petrified of tornadoes. I would much rather go through an earthquake than a tornado. 'They Go Every Day' reminds me of my SF days. I waited in line everyday (and, yes, it is the same people in line). I even got to know the bus drivers on my route. 'Freshly Washed Street' was also like SF. There are trees and bushes growing near the ocean that have a constant wind blowing over them (like the trees in this painting). These trees and bushes are growing at an angle since that's all they know. And it has that same gloomy look to it that SF has (from the fog). All in all, interesting. They made me think. As an illustrator, what has David illustrated (I noticed that these were illustrations to unwritten stories -- I like that concept)?
