I've never before had the opportunity to converse with an ostrich farmer. What's the personality of an ostrich like? My husband grew up on a chicken farm and said they are the dumbest creatures to be blessed with a brain. Ostriches seem like they may have a wee bit more intelligence. The car.. my co-owner wanted to paint it back to its original baby blue and white two tone.. and he wanted to do the work on it. I was lazy.. (And foolish) and since he was the one that cut me into the deal in the first place.. I finally sold him my half. He repainted it.. and it then looked beautiful. Then he and I slowly drifted apart as high school friends are wont to do.. and I'm not sure what happened with the car. He ended up going off for two years on a Mormon Mission to Taiwan.. and when he came back.. we just didn't stay in touch much. So I regret to say I'm not sure what happened to it.. :-( Ahh well.. wouldn't be the first thing that has slipped through my fingers without me making the most of it.. and I'm certain it won't be the last.. Ciao for now.. Mark ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 26 Oct 1998 22:15:50 EST From: CJMark@aol.com Subject: Re: Alloy: gothic..cemeteries... <.swoon> Dear Crackers.. Your story of the big black crypt sounds hilarious!! I would have loved to see your faces as he did the trick!! I can only imagine how fast you all got out of there!! What a great gag!! Your comment about the old gravestones reminds me of a visit to Rhode Island a few months ago and seeing a cemetary in Newport that had markers from the 1700s. That was quite moving to see.. imagining folks involved in the American Revolution etcs.. And regarding the young girl hanged as a witch.. its time here for a shameless plug. There is a new film out currently.. "Practical Magic" starring Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock. Its actually quite an enjoyable film to see. A few unexpected plot twists and some excellent acting make it great fun.. and yes.. for the entire family.. with some nice little lines that adults can relate to. (Maybe a bit scary for the under 10 crowd, however.) Anyhow, the film begins with a witch hanging.. at least the townsfolk attempt to.. in the 1700s. The woman playing the witch is one of my best friends.. in fact. And though the final cut left some of her better scenes on the cutting room floor.. it is fun to see a friend on the big screen. She came to LA two weeks ago and asked if I would escort her to the premier.. which was great fun!! Alas.. my honesty requires me to explain.. it wasn't the big searchlight.. limo.. flashbulbs and stars premier... it was the cast and crew premier which happened the night before the big one. (She had to take her agent to the big one for political reasons.) But that didn't matter to me.. it was fun seeing the film.. and I got the opportunity to meet the director and the executive producer.. so that was much more valuable for me than the star scene.. (I'd have had to figure out how to squeeze my non diet stomach into my black tie pants..OUCH!) Sorry to run on here, folks.. I just couldn't pass up the chance to try and sound like I was important for a moment! Ciao for now.. That was a great presentation.. of yourself and family.. but also the cool rundown on the other members of Alloy that you were able to quickly recall. I'm sure there are others out there.. why don't you all at least pipe up to say hello... and let us all know where you are!? It would be a perfect excuse to enable Thomas to start planning his world tour!! Ciao for now..
