It's so exciting at the moment for all of us. He had his book launch la= st week in York, and the shop said they'd never had as many people turn up= for one - even though they often feature established stars. He's all over t= he place doing readings and to be frank, everyone adores him. He is very lovely though so that's only fair. Anyway, if you're in the UK, please do buy a copy from any Waterstones = or Dillons. It really is a tremendously powerful body of work, and I can o= nly marvel at the genius and passion he shows throughout. He's the youngest= poet OUP have ever published, and they've been in existence almost as l= ong as the university, but when you read it you can see why they've taken t= he risk with him. If anyone in the US or anywhere else wants one, just let me know and se= nd me your addresses (Robin's is already on my shelf) and I'll send them o= ver gratis - it's a real pleasure to let more and more people read his stuf= f. He won't be making any money from it ata ll - poetrty never does, but I= 'm hoping to buy enough copies to make all the bookshops in London re-orde= r! (Each one only has 2 copies). So there we go - get your orders in ASAP and I'll have them on their wa= y to you some time next week! the_copse (is it just me, or is "Pilots and Navigators" a bit like "Astronauts an= d Heretics"? He's a Dolby fan also..... = - --0__=hDKlyzBtWgnXfoKsLTkfxg9uFNreRAJWIlj6pn56ZZxRhwRKpNdJDlI0-- ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 1 Oct 1998 07:46:46 EDT From: RThurF@aol.com Subject: Re: Alloy: Copse's brother's book In a message dated 10/1/98 3:28:14 AM Eastern Daylight Time, Tim_Dunn.JBA_HEATHROW.SPL_EXTERNAL@jba.co.uk writes: << If anyone in the US or anywhere else wants one, just let me know and send me your addresses (Robin's is already on my shelf) and I'll send them over gratis - it's a real pleasure to let more and more people read his stuff. I really can't wait to read it & I'm so happy it's been so well-received!! You mustn't let me have it gratis though, not at least without that trade we had in mind. NOw another friend has released a cd which is being very well received in nyc (though they still can't get gigs in Boston, because they're local -??- some kind of music biz political thing i have never understood) which I think you would enjoy. Why don't I send you a copy with my address enclosed, and we'll do the trade... I have your London address as of August 24th. Speaking of trades...! Michael, finally I took my photo with the poster as we had agreed, but my original flaky idea didn't work (trying to be creative with a disposable camera has its limits) I am doing them over again tonight or tomorrow. I'm now going to pose near the poster with my cello - to accompany Thomas' violin. If only I had some spray starch so I could do my hair like his! You will have the photos next week, promise!!! I'm sorry!!! I haven't seen the 'Hotsauce' video, but Robin sure makes it sound interesting! :-) Worse yet was the last episode of "The Larry Sanders Show", which was on cable recently. The plot premise was that Sanders is this talk show host ala Leno, and for the last show he was going to have a whole bunch of people on who had been on previous shows, kind of a big guest blowout. Well, one of these was David Duchovny, and in earlier episodes DD had acted as if he had a bit of a crush on Larry, generally acting in a bit of a creepy way that was uncomfortable to Larry (if you saw it in the context of the show, it was very funny). In the last episode, DD asks Larry to meet him a an LA hotel, and answers the door in his bathrobe. They then sit down to talk about the show, facing each other, in these hotel chairs in this room. DD keeps crossing and uncrossing his legs, and I kid you not he flashes a certain part of his anatomy at Larry and the camera. Though it happens very fast and I'm sure he was wearing some undies, at this point, even though I am nearly falling off MY chair laughing, I am thinking at the same time that I have just seen more of DD than I ever really wanted to! ;-p Jen (:^ ____________________________________________________ Jennie Bolton, Research Chemist Northwest Fisheries Science Center · Vice-Chair, Pionus Breeders Association ------------------------------ End of alloy-digest V3 #262 ***************************
