I'm looking for a new one, as mine's on its last legs. Can you courier me one over? (Not entirely true, really, as I was in sunny Plymouth only three weeks ago for our travelling System Administrators' Forum. It rotates between Manchester, Liverpool, Newcastle upon Tyne, Leeds, Cambridge, Bristol & Birmingham once each quarter. Plymouth was an abberation, an outstation that was nice to visit once, but we probably won't be doing again.) > It's piddling it down this morning in Paris & I'm on the bike... > bugger. > Aussi en Engletere, mon petite cabbage (pardon my Franglais). I lashed out on a NICAM video a couple of years ago, but me TV's glorious mono, so I too have routed it through the hi-fi. It's not quite cinem,a sound, but it's not bad. The TV will have to be replaced soon as it's taken to switching its colour, brightness and contrast up to absolute maximum after it's been switched off and on again, so it's jolly digital TV for me next. > Fianlly, I've thrown in the towel with the UK music charts. I'm afraid the Golden Age of Decent Pop has finished its decline into complete trash. Even B*witched's second single isn't a patch on the first one. Talk about peaking early. > Voilà. Anyway, it's still a great company to work for, in spite of the occasional strikes. I'm even considering employment now. My supervisor really wants to hire me and he's pretty cool. (Don't tell Erin, Keith!) Now to make you even more upset... For me, the strike was pretty nice. I work in a building where there are no union employees so there was no picket line to even see. And since everyone there is a manager, most of them got sent out on strike duty (just like yourself) so I had fewer people to support! Ok. Now I feel really bad. ___________ JAMac (Dennis S. Nice to know some companies have $1000 to toss about! Good luck :) Well, it's my alternate reality, so there! (And it pays really good too!) Actually that's the finders fee my company pays if their consultants (of which, I am one) refers someone they actually land a contract for a client with. Don't worry, by the way. If I get that $1000, I'm taking Keith to the best restaurant in Denver. And then he'll have the opportunity to make $1000 each time he refers someone who also gets a contract. (Know any IT people out there? Programmers? Admins? I'll take you out to dinner (pending travel))! Hmmm. I just had a thought... Lets see... A thousand bucks will buy a round-trip ticket to many places as well as a nice dinner. I just might be able to visit some of you! ___________ JAMac (Dennis S. It's they're only resource. Kind of a modern day slave trade (hey here's a good worker for you) without those messy shackles and whips. Yeah, with a few benefits thrown in for us slaves. Such as, that strike US West had? I stayed right where I was, and had fewer people to support (they'd all been sent on strike duty to make up)! Plus, it kind of makes you a salesman of yourself. You have to impress the clients so your contract manager will get you an even better contract the next time, which means, you have a desire to stay polished in your skills or add new ones. It's better all the way around! Plus I get free training and certification opportunities. Plus, when the contracts, up, you leave whatever mess you were in the middle of for somebody else! Plus, you get to work with all kinds of employers and perhaps one you might decide to work for permanently. Plus, you have an ever-changing work environment so nothing gets mundane. Plus, you don't have to look for contracts, your manager does that. You just go on the interviews. Plus, you get really good vacation time (usually better than the employees do). Plus, you don't have to deal with corporate politics. Plus, insurance, etc., etc.... And everybody loves you. Ok, I've said way more than enough. You've probably skipped this message by now. > >Oh, and Dennis will be buying me a very nice dinner if I get him this bonus. > >-Keith Most definitely! ___________ JAMac (Dennis S.
