It's the first time I've flown with my kids. Logan is a little scared about flying. Kind of reminds me of my little sister when we were kids and were flying to Florida. I grew up in the town of Simcoe which has a big parachuting club. Almost every day you could see people jumping from planes from nearly anywhere in the town (even seen a few unsuccessful jumps). My little sister was very nervous about the flight to FLA and when asked why she said, "Well, I think I can handle the flying part alright, but I don't think I'll like jumping out of the plane when I get there." Having only seen people exit planes via parachute, my sister assumed that was how everybody but the pilot left an airplane. I saw two copies of it at Virgin Records in San Francisco yesterday, and note that it is listed as available from www.ab-cd.com. However, cdnow.com and tunes.com no longer list it. /\/\iles ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 14 Aug 1998 03:33:13 -0400 From: "Stephen M. The Flattery Earth - 5 votes The Golden Ageing of Wireless - 1 vote Live to be a Hundred - 1 vote The Flat Birth - 1 vote With four abstentions, that leaves "The Flattery Earth" as the title of choice. If there are to be no votes from Lissu, Dabb, JAMac, or Ian, then "The Flattery Earth" it is! Carry on. /\/\ ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 14 Aug 1998 03:33:12 -0400 From: "Stephen M. Trevor, I am relieved you beat my ladyfriend, Mary, to the punch on that one . TMDR will probably be all the more amused by it coming from you . . . And as for the rest of you too-busy-to-be-a-homecoming-queen, yeah that's right Mr. Armchair General, Mr. Monday-Morning Quarterback . . . You have FOUR DAYS to get your Greetings in. - rant mode off So once again, and for the last time, I ask you, Listie and Lurker alike, to record a message of good will to Thomas Dolby upon the occasion of his 40th anniversary that we may include it in our lavish tribute of song and cheer. Unless you mail it today it's too late for snailmail, but the the telephone message system [(707) 544 2716, USA] will be up and running through Tuesday morning, and you can still send a sound file to me as an email attachment. I still like the long one and will use it if I can. Would you mind if I cut and paste parts of your four messages into one? I haven't loaded the messages into the computer yet, so I am not certain that it will sound ok to mix the various takes, but I think it can be done to arrive at a supadupa birthday wish. The Communications Workers of America appear to be planning to go on strike against US West tomorrow night, which means that sometime tomorrow (haven't been told when yet - I have to call a hotline every hour or so) I get to fly out to Waterloo, Iowa to spend 12 hours a day every day as a toll operator. I'm trying to contain my excitement. Hey, maybe someone will ask a question about statistics or cognitive aging that I can actually answer! After all, people have asked operators some pretty strange things in the past...
