First rate job, and a charming way for us to start our Sunday. We'll get that pizza order out as soon as we can! We are really glad that you participated. You are one of the defining members of Alloy, and this project would have been sadly incomplete without you. Pretty easy way to get on the CD list, eh? The result is what you got. Glad it came out OK, I wasn't sure if I'd garbled it a bit, but maybe that adds to the Mancunian charm. >We are really glad that you participated. I really would like to try a dolby track, but my musical ability isn't really up to it, and my recording equipment isn't either, so I'm best sticking to what I'm more talented at, i.e. nonsense. >Pretty easy way to get on the CD list, eh? > Oh yes, that too. >Thanks, >Stephen and Mary > You're very welcome. Just go to www.ebay.com and type in Dolby after registering. I went there and saw the price was up to $7.50. I tried to bid for $8.00 but was told I had been outbid; so I bid $8.50. I was AGAIN told I was outbid. Rinse and repeat about three times... I finally went back to the beginning to see just WHAT the current bid is, and it's up to $20.50! Alright, which one of you is bidding against me?? :) Brian - --- Brian Clayton "Just because someone can buy a computer and plug stemish@kumr.lns.com it into the wall doesn't mean that they themselves are wired up right." -- jms ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 9 Aug 1998 22:42:44 -0400 From: "Beth Meyer" Subject: Alloy: More news Hi, folks; Well, it's way past my bedtime (which has become very early now, hence my quietness of late). However, I have been meaning to pass along a bit of news for quite some time, and was just determined to do so tonight. So I will be brief. It appears that, having just acquired one new title for myself (that's "Dr." for the new folks -- just finished my Ph.D.), I'll be picking up another one in a little while. Namely, "Mommy." Yup, that period between finishing my dissertation and graduating, moving out to Colorado and starting the new job was a little more productive than we expected. It's a bit earlier than we planned, but not too bad, particularly since I work in a very easygoing and family-friendly place. The official due date is Feb. 25, but I'm thinking early March, just because I'm never on time for much of anything :-) So basically, we're seeing how many major life changes we can fit into one year -- getting my degree, moving, selling a house and buying another, starting new jobs for both Mark and I, AND a baby on the way...whew! I'm just glad I didn't go with an academic job, with all the stress of starting to teach classes AND being under a lot of pressure to get published and get grants -- what with the First Trimester Death Fatigue, I'd be dying about now. As it is, mother-to-be and "blob" (which is what it looks like on the ultrasound) are doing fine. But, the bed is calling (or more specifically, Mark is, since he knows that I will have a dreadful morning if I don't get to sleep soon), so I'd better go. Cheers, Beth (Dr. Mom?)
