Take 6 and a compilation by David Byrne of weird music found around the world. So.. now I have to not only drive in wonderful LA traffic without the benefit of music (other than that which emits from my own brain) but I have to try and find another copy of AAMB.. which ain't easy! I remember all the Alloy postings regarding locating it.. so maybe I can get another quickly. At least I have cassette tapes I dubbed of both collections.. so I could listen to them in my car before I got the CD player. >> This is terrible!! I'm so sorry to hear this, Mark. I know I just saw AAMB at our local Newbury Comics. The copy I saw was an import pressing for about $18. I would happily pick it up for you if you can't find it in your area... let me know! As I was reading mails from weeks back on this theme ( i.e.: the david Lynch theme that was doing the rounds,....), I couldn't resist telling you about one twin peaks related experience I had a few years back, when I was doing my Finals in London, my then boyfriend (now hubby) and his friends got together to raise enough cash to by the entire Twin Peaks series on Video. I'll never forget what happened when I went to buy the tapes for them to bring back to Finland. I bought the tapes in HMV on Oxford street, and when I was asking at the counter if they had the series in stock, the girl behind the counter perused the computer, and then said in a loud voice "Will that be the television series or the pornograhic film, madam?" That made me splutter. Twin Peaks? Yes, well, it doesn't take much imagination, does it (*choke*) Lissu :o) P.S. I never did get over seeing David Duchovny in drag LOL! > -----Original Message----- > From: Beth Meyer [SMTP:bethmeyer@mindspring.com] > Sent: 25 June 1998 07:08 > To: alloy@smoe.org > Subject: RE: Alloy: Eraserhead: Lynch Fun fact. > > > Hi, folks; > > Well, it appears that we have found yet another taste that we mostly have > in > common. Why is it that every Wal-Mart I've been to fashions its driveway such that the main entrance makes you drive close to the front door before you get to the parking? If the answer is "marketing" then answer me, what is gained for marketing purposes by having to drive through the loiterers, pedestrians, packages, carts, and cars backing up out of spaces when you enter a Wal-Mart parking lot? They're having a sale, and you can get TGAOW, Flat Earth, and Retrospectacle for $9.77 each. "Gate" is $13.97. Plus, they have two imports of AAMB for, respectively, $14.97 and $15.47, plus that German Premium Gold Collection for $13.97. Their service is great and very, very speedy. Another site is www.cdnow.com, which has TGAOW laserdisc on sale for $21 and change. Just doing my part for the cause.
