Is it what I think it is? :) BTW thanks for your generous comments on our page, glad you liked it (Elaine also wrote us a nice letter about one of Dave's paintings on the page... Freshly Washed Street is one of my favorites too!) Michael, I don't think you told me before that you had studied art! Any chance you'd be interested in contrubuting to the 2D art/poetry/photography/short story book I'm putting together for Thomas' birthday? It's a real book too, not a computer simulation of a book! Write for specs if interested, or just send me something & I'll include it anyway. The work must be inspired by Thomas' work or Thomas himself (drawings of, etc) I've been working steadily on my own contribution to this project for some time now & I really will miss it when I finally have to send it off. There are a couple of other contributors to the project so far & it looks like it will be a nice, slim volume of interesting stuff. The due date is September 1st everyone!!! I got the impression it had completely fallen into disuse. I know *I* found it a trifle unfriendly compared with the original, and sometimes couldn't work out who had posted which messages. It's a shame when you consider the amount of work that went into it's creation, but there it is. >> The new one is hard to keep track of. I know a lot of people were complaining about the old Tap room, how it took forever to reload & you had to scroll down to look for things... I never knew quite what the problem was with it, because I never minded any of those things. I assumed it had to be redone because it had ultimately become too unweildy & kept crashing systems. "Scrolling down" & reading through prior posts on a subject was actually the fun part of it in my opinion, & you felt more like you were adding to an actual friendly "conversation" rather than just posting to a message board, as it feels to me now. And it could be so funny!! I know, so much work & anticipation went into the new phase of the Tap Room. Much appreciated... but still I have to say I miss the old format (inconsequential though it may be to reminisce at this point!) If no one uses the new Room for a period of time, will it be taken down altogether? Gee guys, I settle down in front of my email for the first time in yonks, and all these nice messages. If I were a typical Aussie male, right now I'd be saying something like 'damn, must've got somethin' in me eye...' I've just reinstalled the latest versions of my webpage-writing weapons of choice and have had more than a few ideas about how to do a Monty Pythonesque 'and now for something completely different' revamp of the Alloy & PP pages. More soon. stay well, Paul. [Post deadline, pre-weekend. After a really bad day today, during which a very good friend of mine (or so I thought) here in Boston is found to be lying to me/trying to screw with my life, I'm happy to say that our very own Paul Baily has restored my faith in the entire human race thanks to something really nice he said to me in an e- mail this evening. Which immediately brought to mind *all* of the many kindnesses of all of my friends here at Alloy, and how several wonderful people here have gone well out of their way to be nice & kind & friendly to me personally over the years. I want you all to know how much I will always appreciate this!!! getting all emotional Robin T :) ------------------------------ End of alloy-digest V3 #193 ***************************
