Dear Keith, Perhaps we could have you duplicate the CDs after all. If I were to send you a premastered Tribute CD, and you have the free space available on your hard drive(s). I don't know, but I think you'll need about 640Mb free. If you can meet those criteria then you may be able to download the software from the premastered CD and make copies from that. ?, /\/\iles ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 10 Jul 1998 15:12:42 -0400 From: "Stephen M. I am writing to explain and apologize to any of us who may find my publicly posted personal messages to Europa boring, offensive, or otherwise undesirable. You see, after I wrote that last one I had misgivings. There may be some of us who would rather not know my feelings and other personal intimacies. But my thinking is thus: I consider Mary and I as somewhat a creature of Alloy and I further consider the Alloyed as our close and personal friends. So when I post one of these smoochie gooey messages to the list it is an invitation for you to celebrate with us the triumphs and successes of our improbable union, and to share in our happiness. However, if one or more of you wish to speak up about it, I will modify my behavior accordingly. Alloy: Oh God!, look, they're at it again! Hey you two, get a room or something. Next!] Hi Stephen and everyone, That would be fine. I completely cleared off my hard drive recently prior to installing Win 98 and now I have about 2G of free space. The space needed for the CD is about 650 M for a full 74 minute CD. Less space if it is shorter. I have software that will create a disk image on my hard drive, and then write the CD's at 2X (roughly 40 minutes for a 74 minute CD) I also have a disk labler kit to put snazzy lables on the CD's. I will also experiment with my software to see if it can make hybrid Audio/CD-ROM disks. I was thinking that if the space was there, I could include a CD-ROM version of last year's birthday tape web page complete with the animated cover and (better sounding) real-audio files. It would only take about 5 to 10 M of space (a few minutes of audio) for the files. This would only be done if it was 100% compatible with existing audio players. If I do decide to do that though, I would need a better copy of last years tape. The one I had was a bit worbly. One last thing. I am having trouble with my song. Mainly because I've never played an instrument before and I really don't know what I'm doing. I guess I thought I could work it out using the midi sequencer program, but I'm finding it all very difficult. I have considered changing my song to "White City" instead of Fairchild. I was playing around with my keyboard last night and actually figured out some of the notes. I'll let you know in time if I won't be contributing musically. Feel free to attempt Fairchild if you want. Later, Keith owner-alloy@smoe.org wrote: > > Dear Keith, > > Perhaps we could have you duplicate the CDs after all.
