[Intro from PB: Whoa how time flies! My apologies for pausing on passing this one on, I've, uh, had a few things going on here. Anyway, the following spectacular 'would that we were all so lucky' news is from one of our intrepid foreign correspondents, Ian Gifford. Be sure to grab the mentioned picture (and it's a beautiful one at that!) at . Remember, Ian is not on the list these days, so send your congratulations to him at . Bit suss about that post date but. ;) -PB] Hey guys! Well it's true! I am a married Man and happy as Heck! Heidi and I stated our vows in front of 65 people on Mon. March 16th and had a great time. Out of over 12 singer/songwriters present, 7 of them performed at our wedding, two of them during the ceremony. For the ceremony we had EVERYONE stand in a circle around the room. Our friend Michael Lenart created a circle (of energy & spirit) then heidi and I were Let into the circle by 2 strategically placed "door-minders". We then entered the circle and lit candles at the North, South, East and West corners as our friend Anne Graham sang a song written by her and Heidi. The JP took over after Anne was finished. When we went to do the signing and stuff our friend Adam Miner, assissted by Bill Eldridge and Ezio DeSantis, sang an original song by Adam entitled "I am Breathless" (WOW!!!). When all was done and we were wed, we drank lotsa champagne (supplied by HEIDI's Dad) Lotsa wine (made by ME!!! it was Valpolicella, the wine with the gulpability of Egg-nog) and had a stupendous veggie prepared by MY dad John Gifford. All In all it was a beautiful day and Heidi was gorgeous. I wish Y'all could have been there! I am sending an attachment of the wedding invitation I think you will all get a kick out of it. If any of you married peoples have stories of interesting things that happened on YOUR special day then please e-mail me (remember that I don't recieve group postings right now!) Hi y'all, Recently I received the following message from a Mr. Michael Rauhut. As the gentleman is not (yet!;) a member of Alloy, please give him your support and cc him on your replies at . thanks, Paul. It would be a nice idea to start with some background information about the song "Leipzig", which was written by Thomas Dolby and which was also covered by Dave Stewart and Barbara Gaskin in 1984. Thomas Dolby suggested to ask you the following questions: * What do you think, what's the message behind the lyrics? * What do you know about Leipzig? * Could you please help me with any details about that song (date of production, chart position etc.)? * Do you have any information about Barbara Gaskin and Dave Stewart (I guess who's not the Dave from the Eurythmics)? Dear friends, it would be absolutely great, if you could answer to my questions! Please allow me some sentences about myself. I was born in 1963 and I work as an author in the field of rock. Among other things I've published two books on "Rock and politics": "Beat in der Grauzone" (1993) and "Schalmei und Lederjacke" (1996). I also have a weekly blues show on JazzRadio 101.9 in Berlin. Thank you very much and keep on rockin' in a free world Michael Rauhut My address is: Michael Rauhut, Grosse Seestr. 7, D-13086 Berlin; Fon/Fax: (030) 9 27 17 94; e-mail: michael.rauhut@rz.hu-berlin.de - ----------------- End Forwarded Message ----------------- ________________________________________________________________________ Paul Baily paulb@thehub.com.au JustSomeGuy http://www.thehub.com.au/~paulb Brisbane tel: +61-7-3857-8048/+61-411-875-009 Australia Listen to the motion of the wind and the mountains ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 29 Apr 1998 00:37:41 +0100 (BST) From: IT Admin - Govt Office North West Subject: Re: Alloy: Blighty? The Raj I think. In my Dictionary of Phrase and Fabel it states: Blighty. Soldier's name for England or the homeland widely current in WWI, but was well known to soldiers who served in India long before. It is the Hindi 'bilayati', foreign, from Arabian 'wilayet' meaning "provincial", "removed at some distance"; hence adopted by the military for England. - --Omega the Well-Stocked :) - ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- omega@torfree.net Evangelion * Fushigi Yuugi * Maison Ikkoku * Marmalade Boy Brother, Dear Brother * Red Riding Hood Cha Cha * Oh My Goddess!
