Well gang, there's been a drop out of this year's Project B-Day. Elextric will not be with us due to too many outside obligations. So HYPERACTIVE has become available. So far the DIBBS are: Crackers - HOT SAUCE Keith Stansell - WRECK OF THE FAIRCHILD Jose Gomez - PUPPET THEATRE Miles - THE FLAT EARTH The Copse - ONE OF OUR SUBMARINES Lee Jackson - DISSIDENTS JAMac - BEAUTY OF A DREAM Croydon - VALLEY OF THE MIND'S EYE Ian Gifford - EUROPA AND THE PIRATE TWINS Lissu - I LOVE YOU GOODBYE Europa - DON'T TURN AWAY Erik Habbinga - CRUEL And don't forget, in addition to a Dolby cover, contributors can also submit an original work if they want. As well, those who can't or don't wish to contribute musically can still send in a recorded birthday greeting to be included on the tape. All contributions are to be finished and sent to Ian Gifford by the first of September on a 90 minute chrome cassette tape. September 1st may seem like a long way away right now, but don't procrastinate. Last year a number of people put off their recordings until the last minute and were too late to make it to the project. Also remember that this year's project B-Day has a sister project. A book of Dolby inspired artwork and literature compiled by Robin. So send me your DIBBS then get cracking! We spawned The Spice Girls, remember, and a whole load of unspeakable French singers (according to John Hanson)..... Hmmmmm, but to counter this, we gave you THOMAS DOLBY .... yep, we must be cultured after all. > I know that many members of the Alloy list are in England Not THAT many. There's Lem in London, the_copse somewhere in the midlands, Neil Leacy in Shropshire (but he unsubscribed a while ago because of work pressures), John Hanson is in France, Lissu is in the Scandinavian wastes, and I am in Manchester, of course. So, only four in England, unless there are any lurkers we haven't heard from. >and was wondering if any of you might be interested in a >gathering sometime this Summer with one of your American counterparts? >Perhaps some of my fellow Ameralloyites might want to join us as well? > Could be tricky to arrange. It depends on which bit of our sceptic ... sorry, that should be 'sceptered,' isle you're planning on visiting, and when. But anything's possible. Crackers, Due to the bank screwing me around I may not have the necessary equipment/studio time to submit this time around, and even if I do get into the studio, I've got a backlog of seven other songs that really urgently need recording before my head blows up from the pressure. If I can sort it out though, I've secured a copy of Cakewalk to install on a prospective PC to go with my Korg, which I still haven't got around to properly investigating. I'm open to suggestions for names for this second album though, if anyone's feeling inspired. It's not dissimilar to the first in tone, but slightly more acoustic and nice, but still lonely, if you know what I mean. Anyway, I hope it won't come to all that, and I'll be able to contribute as per usual. Strange how as a student I was rolling in cash, and now I'm working (in the most soul-destroying and inexorably tedious field imaginable) I have 50p to last the week out - no kidding! Worst of all is that I have to go on one of these mega-dumb executive adventure team-building weekends to the Lake District on Thursday with a bunch of the most inspiration-, soul-, and culture-free bunches it's ever been my misfortune to come across. ho hum See ya the_copse ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 27 Apr 1998 19:19:11 EDT From: RThurF Subject: Alloy: Blighty?
