It is with a heavy heart that tonight I must report the death of "Dai" Yamada, who died several hours after receiving a fatal gunshot wound to the head. Dai had just saved the life of mecha pilot Jun, and once safely onboard the mobile battleship Nandeshiko remarked, "I couldn't let you die a more heroic death than me." Later that night as he celebrated his battle victory by decorating his mecha with Dai Granger Anime Stickers, he was shot in the head by escaping members of the united earth force who were being held in the Nandeshiko's brig after unsuccesfully trying to take the ship. I can't believe they killed Dai... it was only the 3rd episode in the series and he was my favorite character!!! (But on the plus side he's been replaced with a petite female mecha pilot who wears glasses and is also an anime otaku (totemo kawaii desu ne!). So long Dai! May you be happy in otaku heaven where you'll have all the episodes of Gatchaman on DVD. I definitely play for the fun of it. I don't think I've received any money in at least five years for any musical situation. I do play bass in a jazz band w/ people from work, but we rarely play outside of rehearsal. My main instrument is bass, but I do also play guitar and a bit of keyboards. Those of you who have the "Aliens Ate my Birthday Cake" have also heard my weak vocals. Outside of the jazz band, my musical activities center around writing and recording music at home. Well, it would surely be nice to hear more from you, Erik. > I definitely play for the fun of it. I don't think I've received > any money in at least five years for any musical situation. Those of you who have the > "Aliens Ate my Birthday Cake" have also heard my weak vocals. Rather, those of us who have AAMBC know what a fine arrangement and performance of "Weightless" you rendered for us. Those guitars are sweet sweet sweet! I, for one, am hoping you'll grace us with your talents once again this year. And perhaps, if you really aren't happy with your vocals, one of the fine-voiced Alloyites around here could do vocal tracks for you. I forget, did you use ADAT for your project last year? That would make it easy . . . (er). Cheers, /\/\iles ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 8 Mar 98 05:18:00 GMT From: p.louie1@genie.geis.com Subject: Alloy: TMDR TV ALERT! MUST READ! Hi everyone, I'm coming out of lurking to say that the VH1 quiz show called "My Generation" will be shown all day tomorrow (Sunday, March 8) on VH1. Thomas said in The Tap Room that he was in one episode of a VH1 quiz show with Michael Sembello. I guess this is it. Warm up those VCRs! And let's see Thomas whip The Wilsons.
