Europa, That new cover of "Video Killed The Radio Star" was done by The Presidents of The United States of America. If anyone wants to purchase it, a live version appears on their 1996 "Dune Buggy" single and a studio version appears on their archive CD which I believe it is only available as a Japanese import. Last I checked, the archive CD costs $35-$40. Ouch! I kind of liked it myself and it's quite true to the original Buggles version. I'm actually happy that they covered the Buggles version because I never liked the Bruce Woolley and The Camera Club version. The original version first appeared on The Buggles' "Age Of Plastic" album, but can now be found on a bazillion 80s compilations. (Much like She Blinded Me With Science) Yes, you got Geoff Downes correct. He and Thomas are two of my favorite musicians. It's too bad they never worked together even with this connection. On another note... Has anyone on AOL tried to access Hypractv8! recently? It seems to have disappeared! My link in my Favorites Sites list turns up nothing. Using the search function for "Thomas Dolby" didn't turn up anything either. Ugh. I keep sending these mails out - I hope that I'm not just supposed to send 1 per day... I keep thinking of things I want to say .. about me.. well, I'm English living in France, working for a French software bureau, on mission with a multi-national healthcare company beginning with B which has its' HQ in Deerfield, Illinois, I've been here nearly two years... I came to France to live with my French girlfriend Béatrice, whom I met whilst working for my previous company, an American jeans company beginning with W. I met her in July 1994, at a VAT meeting... she was representing Wrangler France, she is Financial Controller there, me I was representing IS based in the UK at Nottingham. It was LAFS, we went out, lived apart for two years seeing each other once a month, Finally I got a job in France, despite speaking virtually no French since 1980; We live in Clichy, in NW Paris, about ten minutes from the Arc de Triomphe, I work at Maurepas in the west of Paris. I cycle a lot; I hate gyms, which are full of poseurs, I swim a bit - I'm 1m87, 90kg and share a birthday with Tom Cruise. Like my name, I'm a bit Scandinavian in appearance.. blue eyes, light colored hair. Other than music & cycling, I love football (soccer) and support a second division team here called Red Star 93. Music wise, I also like Saint Etienne and allsorts, really. Well, that's my life laid bare for all & sundry... I did a quick net search at lunchtime today, and came up with around 8 links but Netscape threw a wobbler just after that so I didn't get an opportunity to follow them up. As far as how I heard of them in the first place, they guested on the National Lottery Show a couple of months ago, performing 'I Never Loved You Anyway' which was presumably released as a single around that time. I was instantly interested, as I like folk/rock cross over stuff, like Fairport Convention and Clannad, so when I had to list things I'd like for my birthday, I asked for 'Talk On Corners.' On the whole, I'm very impressed, though there are a couple of tracks in the middle that are a little too middle-of-the-road for my taste, but the rest is great, including a cover of Jimi Hebdrix's 'Little Wing.' Enough of this off topic stuff, but if I discover anything novel or interesting I'll let you know.
