I can honestly say that being 'live' with all you good people, being invited by one of the men I admire most in the world to explore one of his latest projects, of which he is obviously very proud, and then to top it all off getting to download the Beatnik plug-in at last and hear some new pieces on Imago Dei by Thomas himself, was the highlight of Dave's and my very long & stressed-out week. And I must say... I was totally unprepared for the power of Beatnik. If you recall, my old system wouldn't support it, so this is the first chance I've had to experience it for myself. I had NO IDEA. Out of every amazing thing I've ever been shown pertaining to this medium, this is the one thing that has put me on the floor. Frank was right!!! Now I will have to go in and read everything and be jealous... Grrrrrrr... Gearing up for "Melissa's Alloy Southern Hemisphere and Bay Area Tour '98!" Cheers, Melissa Melissa R. It was a parcel from Our Man in Santa Rosa! I just about ripped a fingernail off in my eagerness to get the package open, and, boy, was it ever worth it! I LOVE MY SHIRT!!!! Major league kudos to everyone involved in creating these waaaay cool shirts! As soon as work is over today, I'll start breaking in my new Alloy sweatshirt. Hi y'all, My first post for the New Year! I thought I would share this Dolby anecdote with you. I was on my way to work this morning and stopped in at a local CD retail outlet called 'Sanity'. I just happened to be looking through the 'SOUNDTRACK' section when I noticed ....Aliens Ate My Buick...duuh. Maybe I should have checked to see if they had a 'MAINTENANCE' section - they might have had a copy of The Golden Age of Wireless. Stephen et al - I must say that I felt rather similarly, though I wasn't going to bring it up...It was certainly kind of TMDR to go to the trouble of calling long distance from a hotel room to talk to us, but he didn't, in fact, really talk to us very much...and the things he said, were all of an impersonal nature, and it seems that writing them off line and spending five minutes posting them either here or at the taproom would have accomplished much the same ends. Similarly, the lack of a posted response to the birthday tape is somewhat disapointing, since a lot of people on the list obviously put quite a bit of effort into it (and made a fantastic job of it too, I might add!), and only a handful were there to present it in person. On the other hand, it -was- a birthday present, and as such was given freely without judgement or expectation, (and we all enjoyed the whole bit, too!), so... This is mostly to let /\/\iles (& /\/\ary) know that they're not completely alone in below opinions. I certainly don't want to belittle Our Founder or offend anyone either! I also agree with them that the evening was a lot of fun and truly worthwhile...perhaps we can arrange something similar again sometime! -- E(lipse Stephen M.
