The minor snag being that my PC doesn't have any Midi sockets at all. I think I'll need to get back to you when I've tracked down an ST. I take it that there are software sequencers to be had for the ST? The little built-in sequencer on the Mirage is a little feeble, even for a beginner like me. Hello all, I'm anything but knowledgeable about the music industry and recording companies, and while I'd very much like to start collecting our Hero's rare works, I haven't the time or money at the moment--too busy collecting rare books. ;) But for all of you who do make a hobby out of this, I have a request... While listening to my copy of TGAOW, I noticed that it had the shorter version of "Airwaves". A quick glance at Lazlo's discography reassured me that that was normal, it's the CD version of the second US release, by Capitol Records. SBMWS/Radio Silence (synth)/Airwaves (short)/Flying North/Weightless/Europa/Windpower (edited intro/outro)/Commercial Breakup/One of Our Submarines/Cloudburst Now why was it I could have sworn that it had the longer version of Airwaves? I felt a bit silly, since I've listened to the album so many times... I thought about it.. listened to it again, wondered if I was completely crazy, thought about it a little more, and realized that Turquoise's copy has the extra verse in it. ("Airwaves" off of Turq's TGAOW CD was the first Dolby I ever heard, besides "Blinded" which was on the radio all the time :) That's my only excuse for not noticing the difference in mine sooner, I suppose)... I asked him if he had the UK second release by Venice in Peril/EMI, which according to the discography is the same in CD form, except it has the longer version of "Airwaves" and doesn't have the editing on "Windpower". He looked at the CD, the booklet, the copyrights and all the rest and swore it was the US release, by Capitol Records, exact same serial number as mine and everything. So could one of you older, wiser music people enlighten us as to why they're different? We're hoping of course that you'll tell us he has a rare copy of something... ;) Either way, we're both feeling rather curious and a bit clueless about it. :) Thanks, E(lipse ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 18 Nov 1997 10:26:12 -0700 From: dalexander@juno.com (Dennis S.
