In the process of moving to the big city to be with my new wife I'm moving all of my CD's out of those blasted jewel cases and into soft albums. I was listening again to "Cruel" and I simply love the voice of Eddi Reader. Attempting to hear more I purchased an Eddi Reader album from 1994. I was not impressed. Does anyone know of any female vocalist albums that even approach Cruel's quality? Melissa, How long will you be in Russia? Do you have an address? Would surface mail reach you in time? Perhapse, we could send you a survival kit. I could always send you a Chicago style hot dog. It would still be edible over surface mail. For your info I'm adjusting quite well to the married life. Her dog Max readily took my surname, however, the cat has refused. I had a straight talk with him and he knows that if he doesn't find a job in the next six months he'll have to either reconsider taking my name or move out. My copy of Aliens was purchased by my best friend at the Nice Price. Beats the hell out of paying megabucks for an import! Though I have to caution you that I haven't looked for awhile so it may be that all of those copies have disappeared. If I ever have a life again (September 1 maybe?), I'll take a gander around here. The web site works, but I couldn't find any reference to TMDR on it; so I called them up. As of today, they have: Close But No Cigar Pt. 2 $10.95 Quantum Mechanic $10.95 Silk Pyjamas Pt. 1 $11.95 Silk Pyjamas Pt. 2 $10.95 I Love You Goodbye Pt. 1 $10.95 I Love You Goodbye Pt. 2 $16.95 These are all new imports from Europe, according the sales clerk. > > Brian Clayton - Part 1 of Close But No Cigar cd set > > Part 1/2 of Silk Pyjamas cd set > > Part 1/2 of Hyperactive cd set I'm going to order the Silk Pyjamas set myself. I also asked to be added to their notify list (snailmail and email) so when the other items I asked about come in, I'll be contacted. As always, but especially since you've been giving us the play-by-play on your current trip. I had a baby in February. Prior to becoming pregnant, I was always one of those people who never cried.. never felt the urge. I was always told that I was "un-chick-like." As my pregnancy progressed, I found myself crying at the slightest little thing -- and I always assumed it was "just hormones" and a passing thing. I now feel (or fear?) that I've been changed permanently by the experience: I cry at all kinds of things, even though I stopped being pregnant almost five months ago. Anyway, to make a point the long way.. must be the combination of my new outlook on life and the way you write, but I've teared up twice this week. Reading your post, and on Friday when they sentenced the convicted terrorist McVeigh to death. (Driving out here to CA from the east coast last summer, we stopped at the Murrah building site. The most hardened person couldn't stand there without at least a lump in his throat -- I cried very easily.) Anyway, keep letting us know what it's like there. I don't see myself ever visiting a place like that, and I look forward to reading about your experiences. On Thu, 12 Jun 1997, Melissa Jordan wrote: > P.S. Singles were ..... singles, i.e. one track on each side of a seven inch disk and played at 45 rpm; LPs were 'Long Players,' , also known as 'albums,' were twelve inches in diameter, played at 33&1/3 rpm and had several tracks on each side. EP's were in between, still seven inches in diameter, but had more than one track on each side. Can someone remind me whether they revolved at 33&1/3 or 45 rpm? I think it was 45, but I could be wrong. More recently, of course, there were twelve inch singles as well, but these played at 45 rpm. Slarvibarglhee 'The Ancient One Who Remembers These Things.' P.S. I can also remember '78's' AND '16's' [records that were played at 78 and 16 rpm respectively], in fact our first 'gramophone' ONLY played 78's and we had to change the 'needle,' which was exactly what the stylus was in those days, after only around 20 sides. We never had a machine that played wax cyliders, but I've seen them in a museum. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 16 Jun 1997 19:22:18 -0400 (EDT) From: "Mary A. I have always loved that particular photo which was a deciding factor in my becoming smitten with the lad. My favorite now defunct record shop in Champaign-Urbana had it posted back in '83 and I tried in vain to get it from them. The closest I got was when TMDR's dad xeroxed his copy of it for me. I agree it would probably not reproduce well on a shirt but I am very happy to see it on the Web!
