No apologies necessary sir! I think it's a great idea. I don't any rights of ownership over this list, I'm merely the guy who started it. The Alloy 'thing' we have here is more a product of everyone here rather than anything I've done so I think consensus is the way to go and it certainly sounds like we have that. Let me suggest the Alloyed grant veto power to Paul. After all, this *is* his pub. Cost for Paul and Thomas' shirts to be amortized over the group, if that's agreeable. Neil offered foreign exchange services, thanks Neil! Elaine wants a baby shirt - no problem. Fruit Juice Everywhere! on the back is obviously a done deal. For the rest of it I like the vote idea. For those of us capable of graphic design, please forward your completed ideas to Paul for inclusion on the t-shirt web page, I guess. Paul, are you cool with multiple graphic formats? Any limitations we need to know about? More about my vision of the shirt: I would like to see "ALLOY" done in a metallic-like ink. Think irridescent, or reflective. I also like the 2+2=5.25 idea as it symbolically reflects the result of alloying metals, in addition to it's other contextual meaning. People will think you're a metallurgist, until you walk away that is. Keep those cards and letters comin' folks. If the web server does not recognize the file extension, it sends the file with the mime type for plain text. To download a file which is not sending the correct mime type, right click on the link and choose the "Save as" option. She is an exceptionally talented artist, and, most importantly, a very close friend: Karen Bell. I discussed our needs with Karen and she is jazzed about the idea, and will make any quantity we require - no minimum! That's it --- we're there. All we need to do is agree on design, style, and quantity. She buys shirts wholesale, so the price will be excellent, and the quality of her work is more that we could reasonably expect from your run-of-the-mill printer. These shirts will be printed (silk-screened) by hand. I am so excited! (Plus, she's a stickler for details and will not release anything that doesn't meet her high standards. If she blows it with one she'll just make another one without gripes.) I own about eight of her shirts and they are, without a doubt, among my most treasured. High in both quality of fabric, and esthetic content. The ALLOY part can be done in a metallic-like ink. Very vibrant and eye catching. The front and back mottos will be opaque. Any color we like. I'd like to make a suggestion at this point. You know the spherical device suspended above the stage upon which TMDR is standing on the original US release of TGAOW? I would like to see that on the front of the shirt, taking up the majority of available space, but in a shadowy background kind of way. ALLOY and the motto should be prominent, of course. Comments? Anywho, I'm going off to visit Karen later today to look at shirts on hand, and browse the many catalogs she has. I'm hoping to get some color and style samples, scan them, and send them to Mr. Baily for inclusion on the proposed webpage. Jordan" Subject: Alloy: Nick Kershaw I was playing a Nick Kershaw cd last night - I've only played it two or three times before, and, usually, after the few songs I know are over, I mentally tune out (bad Melissa, bad girl.) I just noticed when I was putting it back in it's cover that one of the songs is called "One of Our Fruit-picking Machines is Missing." Now, I admit that I haven't listened to that track, but I have to tell you that the strangest lyrics have been going through my head today, all to a very familiar melody... Had to get my science humor in there :) Since there's a tally going, count me in for an XL t-shirt. I'm partial to the 2+2 idea, and I'd definitely like it to be light-colored as these Arizona summers are brutal! Paul, I tried your little web-page info form but it didn't like me (couldn't find your DNS entry repeatedly). And an offer: this weekend I'm going to rent a laserdisc player and record onto VHS tape (among other things) The Golden Age of Video. If there's anyone who's interested in a VHS copy, I'd be happy to make extras for only the cost of shipping. Melissa, you shrinking violet, Let TMDR know the dates you'll be gone so he can plan around them!! I know he's got to be concerned about your attendance (*I* think it would be lacking something if you weren't there). > Now (she writes, playing Pollyana) perhaps we should take his silence as a > sign that, betwixt all his Headspacing, he's putting pen to paper/fingers to > keyboard and writing some new tuneage. Well, hey - a little optimism and > wishful thinking never hurt anyone, right? If I can continue on this wishful thinking thread, how about if TMDR gives a musician-type (or someone like me who labors under the delusion of being one) the chance to jam with him on a song during the concert? And it would be wonderful for the faithful to do our own renditions as a group either before or afterwards. > Melissa (who ran into Gillian "Agent Scully" Anderson yesterday while > waiting for those dreadful passport photos.
