Yay! (She also likes Bowie and Bob Marley, what a great kid.) In the 36 hour period before her birth, I occupied my brain by playing with the MIDI files I got from the Green Dinosaur collection. They are totally bitchen cool. Real MIDI files by our fearless leader -- exactly what I had been looking for. I still can't get any from the Offworld site though, I haven't figured out how to do it. When you're not on a Mac and are not running Windows, the web isn't such a friendly place. ...But I'll keep trying when I get some free time. (Maybe in about 6 months right.) Anyway, thanks and please keep posting -- email and IRC are my only link to the real world these days. Speaking of which, Paul.. I happen to run a standalone IRC server. Was it you who suggested offering it as a place to host future chats? If whoever might be interested would like to drop by, please do at irc.qnet.com. (Look for Elainie but I'm away a lot lately.) :P - -- Elaine Linstruth Palmdale, CA (USA) ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 21 Feb 1997 19:38:28 -0800 (PST) From: Brian Clayton Subject: Re: Alloy: New Alloy Member Hey, congrats, Elaine! Please tell me all about yourselves! How many people belong to Alloy? Are many of us the same folks who go to the FES tap room? I have been a fan of Thomas Dolby's work since I was in high school in the 80's, but I know very little about him apart from his work. I'd love to find a bio on him somewhere but I keep striking out. Suggestions appreciated! Hope to hear from all the Flat Earthers out there. . . Please tell me all about yourselves! Well, I'm the guy who's been accused of starting and looking after Alloy. I live in- aw heck, rather than me bore you with straight text, have a look at http://www.thehub.com/~paulb/about.html when you're next in your web browser. Oh dear, I put a URL as a means of introduction. I really do have to get a life don't I? Sorry, bit short on time right now so have to do a type'n'run. >How many people belong to Alloy? Are many of us the same folks who go to the >FES tap room? Um, last time I counted, we're at 79 Alloids (Alloids!? :-) including your good self. Not sure how many of us also frequent the tap room, I'd guess it's between about 5-10 people. >I have been a fan of Thomas Dolby's work since I was in high school in the >80's, but I know very little about him apart from his work. I'd love to find >a bio on him somewhere but I keep striking out. Suggestions appreciated! Well, I'm glad to say you've come to the right place Robin! There's a good half dozen people in here who know quite a bit about the lad ...including TMDR himself of course. :-) So if you're curious about anything in particular, please do fire away. The only silly question is the one that doesn't get asked. You may also want to wander over to which is the Thomas Dolby Pictorial site by Russell Milliner (a fellow Alloid) and has lots of great stuff as well as more links. stay well, Paul. ________________________________________________________________________ Paul Baily paulb@thehub.com.au Consulting SE/IT contractor http://www.thehub.com.au/~paulb Brisbane, Australia There is a spirit here that won't be broken. ------------------------------ End of alloy-digest V2 #33 **************************
