"Lofting Music" by one Giles Smith... No big surprise that no one responded... I just got a copy of this book from a friend in the UK... The title is actually "Lost in Music" (which, of course, makes a hell of lot more sense than my interpretation) although I swear the first version is what I heard over the phone. How embarrassing... I am displeased because this means one of two things: 1) my hearing is shot to hell, or 2)I have been away from the UK so long that I can no longer comprehend a Lake District accent. Regardless, I have nifty copy of said book in hand - with a page marked by my thoughtful friend. The author was in a band called Cleaners from Venus, and, in describing the production of the group's second album, he writes that he tried (unsuccessfully) "to make the album sound ritzy and shimmering, like Prefab Sprout as produced by Thomas Dolby..." Ritzy and shimmering... hmmmm... Reveling in today's pouring rain and general greyness near DC... Cheers, Melissa - ------------------- Melissa R. This is weird. My band partner Liam just returned from Ireland, and while he was there he went to visit one of my online friends (from the XTC mailing list). He had a book that he thought we should read, so he gave Liam a copy to bring back. I haven't torn into it yet. It's sitting on the table. It's called "Lost In Music" by Giles Smith. Weird!! I'll have to check it out. Thomas Dolby. (...well this is the Thomas Dolby list, so I thought I'd mention him...). :> Cheers!
