I've been noticing that myself of late, but, then, I'm one of the guilty silent parties... Writing dry government reports and tapping out endless e-mail in transliterated Russian sucks the creativity right out of me. Also, as a techno-weenie with little access to cool technology, I can't keep up with the nifty things done by folks like Lee, so all I can do is sit here and think, "Oh, neat." >Anyone home? As Keith would say, "Oh, you're not here either..." We're probably all out here, Paul, but those of us in North America are in the middle of the dreaded "Allergy Season," which might account for some of the general lethargy (and red eyes, clogged ears, and crankiness.) Or is that just me?... (Strangely, in Moscow, where the pollution levels hover right around those in Mexico City, I never had a single allergy problem - probably because all the evil chemicals in the air killed off anything natural that would have made me sneeze...) And now, a question... A good friend in the UK (who has a rather tenuous Dolby connection - Ken Russell, director of "Gothic," was his next door neighbor for years) has highly recommended a book to me - Lofting Music by Giles Smith. He says it's very funny and a good read - all about music, London, and the '80's. It's not available in the 'States, so if anyone else out there has read it or has access to it, please let me know what you think of it. The reason I mention said book is that, while reading the liner notes (jewel box notes?) for "Retrospectacle," I noticed that the author was one Giles Smith. Now, surely, there's more than one Giles Smith in the UK, but... can anyone tell me if this is the same guy? Oh, Paul - I'm disappointed - you didn't title your post "Are You Receiving Me?" Ha! Okay, back to The Pit That Is My Job. Cheers, all! - - Melissa - ------------------- Melissa R. Whenever I access the F.E.S. web site, I have a frustrating navigation problem: whenever I try to go back a page within the site, I get zapped out completely to wherever I was before accessing F.E.S. This is most distressing and makes me bang my head (gently) on my desk. I don't seem to have this difficulty anywhere else. Am I such a bonehead that I am doing something wrong, or has anyone else encountered this problem? I'd like to contribute to threads in The Tap Room, but, if after reading one, I get unceremoniously dumped on my rump out in the ether, it becomes less fun to try. Help, anyone? FYI - I'm using Netscape 2.02 - upgrading myself to 3.0 this afternoon if I get a free moment. Cheers, Melissa, Techno-weenie - ------------------- Melissa R. The Netscape navigation buttons don't work well with frames. If you want to use the non-Frames version (where your navigation buttons will work correctly), you can go to http://www.tdolby.com/anteroom.html (I think this is the same stuff, but I haven't checked closely--it might be an older FES webpage that is no longer updated, or something.) The Netscape navigation buttons > don't work well with frames. Netscape 3.0 seems to deal with frames much more gracefully than 2.x did. Upgrading will probably solve the problem for you, Melissa. - -- ::: Lazlo (lazlo@swcp.com; http://www.swcp.com/lazlo) ------------------------------ From: "Melissa R.
