Ugh... I've been avoiding joining in on the whole bio thing for so long, but reading each of yours has been interesting and strangely inspirational. It's a nice connection. The name's David Abbitt, 27 and living in Hollywired, CA in an old Hollywood home (1920's) that was renovated and refitted into a short block of four flats back in the fifties. The place is (ironically) on Beachwood Drive (not Avenue, and it's not in the Valley). Been a fan of Thomas' since about 1984 ... Went to spend a summer vacation with a friend at his grandmother's in Santa Barbara and every night before we went to sleep he'd put on The Flat Earth. I was hooked after the first night and bought the CD for myself the second I got back to LA. Have enjoyed every release by him since and am anxiously anticipating the rarities album, as some of my favorite TMDR tunes have yet to be released on CD (Field Work, Therapy/Growth, among many others). Currently I work in the film/television industry (doesn't everyone in Los Angeles) as a production accountant, though I just landed my first "legit" producer title for an A&E Biography special, which is pretty exciting for me. I'm happily married and have one child. Though I've been a fan all these years, I was never (for whatever reason) able to see Thomas live, which would really be cool. I keep watching the Times' Sunday Calendar section in the hope to see him pop up at some small venue for an intimate show. No luck so far, but I keep my fingers crossed. If it did happen though, I would love to see him perform at the House of Blues on Sunset. It rocks pretty good and it's a fun venue to hook up with an artist at. My ultimate song list encompasses pretty much everything he's ever recorded, and to see him perform with George Clinton live would be totally awesome. I suppose if I had to pick one or two that I would just HAVE to hear live they would be: Screen Kiss and ILYGB. Anyhow, much love to the Dolby fans around the world and hope all is well!!!!! - -Dabbitt P.S. Anyone know the status on that rarities album? ------------------------------ End of alloy-digest V1 #27 **************************
