There is, in fact, a certain "invention" I'm tinkering with in the off-hours that I would like to send there someday... BTW, I just visited the Oracle of Kevin Bacon. It's at http://www.cs.virginia.edu/~bct7m/bacon.html. Through it, I discovered that you have a Bacon Number of 2. Glad to see that you rank so highly. Keep up the good work. C'mon the rest of you guys, this curiosity about you is killing me! I'm Mary Brown, aka by those people who know how much it means to me (which for several years included Tom's dad!) Europa. I'm 33, single (and wish it wasn't my fate to come close but no cigar for every man I love!) have a PhD in genetics (Beth, I've been meaning to send you some encouraging words since I know the hell of grad school) and work as a postdoctoral fellow at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN at least for another month and a half. I first learned about TMDR from seeing the "Science" video on MTV in 1983 while an undergrad at the University of Illinois (any fans of Hal out there?) and immediately became a fanatic in the true sense of the word! Ran out and bought the Blinded by Science EP and played it every day for about two months, causing the girls who lived one floor above me in the dorm to buy it too. The rest is history. I basically bought everything I could get my hands on until about 1992 which means I own nearly everything on Laslo's list and a maybe even couple of things that aren't there (do you know about the Keyboard Magazine flexidisc-I haven't checked it lately to see). Funny that someone should have mentioned the TMDR with compass poster. I recently moved and was checking out which posters I still have (eat your heart out, Paul, I have HoJo, the Cure, and *Split Enz*!) which included the beat-up copy of it that hung on my wall for years. I couldn't bring myself to throw it away after I bought another copy which has been lovingly preserved. Anybody out there rabid enough to want the slightly crinkled one (are you listening, Monya?)? You'll have to suck up to me a little bit, however, since I'm going through some tough times and could use a little ego stroke ;-). And am I the only fortunate one to have the 5 x 3 foot promo poster for "I Scare Myself"? When I move again, perhaps I shall reestablish the shrine... Claim to fame: not only met the man himself but even had him know who I was! Definitely the high point of my life! Second claim to fame: met the beautiful and charming Paul Baily and he knew who I was too! My dream song list would have to include one I heard him do when I saw him in Chicago in 1984 at the Auditorium Theater. It was called something like "Marseilles" and had kind of a Latin beat to it. Actually, I don't distinctly remember it anymore but I recently reread some purple prose I wrote at the time describing that concert and was reminded. You can ask Paul if it's worth reading and if anyone is interested, I'll send you a copy. My e-mail address is: mary.brown@mcmail.vanderbilt.edu One last thing, hello Neil, are you in desperate need of a CD copy of The Flat Earth? I've now seen it two different places at the nice price... Everyone can wake up now, I'm passing the baton... ------------------------------ From: qrolaren@usa.pipeline.com (Miss Sakamoto) Date: Tue, 16 Jul 1996 00:47:06 GMT Subject: Re: Re[2]: Alloy: I like this biography thing . . . Well, I pity anyone bored enough to read this! My name is Suzanne Williams (not related to anyone important) aka Rev. Siouxsie the Youngest of the Church of the SubGenius (and I really pity you if you know what I'm talking about!). Unfortunately, there aren't many places that carry Mr. Dolby's work, such as singles, videos, etc. where I live (my town consists mostly of rap affectionados--and pardon my spelling--it's not my strong suit), so I have the basics, Wireless, Flat Earth, Aliens, Astronauts, Retrospectacle. I feel deprived, having only come into knowing his music other than "She Blinded Me With Science" in the past few years (I was born in 19--well, let's just say after 1975), so pardon me if I slobber a bit over everyone else's collections (and I *do* accept donations!)
