Though this is sent at the last minute, I know that the post will get through in time for Christmas. We already started out celebrations here by going to see The Bootleg Beatles in Manchester last night. We saw them about four years ago and were mightily impressed. It's still a good show, not tacky or overdone, but humorous and true to the original Beatles. And today is my daughter's eighteenth birthday, so there will be more celebrations later. Best wishes to all Alloy subscribers, for a Happy Christmas and prosperous new year. Slarvibarglhee alias Bill Hargreaves I.T. I have to work tomorrow probably at least until 2:00pm. I still haven't gotten all of my Christmas shopping done. Oh well, there's always tomorrow after work. A little warning about the length of Alloy posts... please bear in mind that the giant computer that processes this list - and many others - automatically siphons out messages which are extra-long and spanks them over to me to examine. It's a safety measure I think, to avoid having lengthy spamming or trolling taken in unsuspectingly & distributed out to our good subscribers... however sometimes one of our very own members have been known to unwittingly exceed the limit (>7000 characters) Usually I can just put it through with my approval if it's legitimate, but sometimes, even legitimate messages are so long that I'm not sure what to do with them. I've just had one bounced to me this morning which was a prime example of this rare, super-extra-long post. It was so long that it was made into a text file, and informs me it will take 14 minutes for my computer to download. Common sense tells me this is not the proper sort of thing to forward to the list, and now I'm vexed as to what to do with it. Maybe Paul, the all-knowing Creator of this list, can advise me? I don't know if this topic has ever been brought up before but I thought it best to mention it. This sort of problem almost never comes up, but from time to time the computer at smoe headquarters will send me a real zinger. Anyway, please bear it in mind... if you have a lot to say all at once, it may be best to say it in chapters or refer us to a web page where we may read it. You know we will :) Back to cutting out more applique patterns for my latest quilt project... lizard silhouettes.. la la la...
