I just think corsets are beautiful things. This particular corset will be the most expensive single article of clothing I'll have purchased for myself since my wedding gown almost seven years ago. I've been wanting one for as long as I can remember!! And once I have it... if Thomas ever does come to Boston & lets me take him out for ice cream, I'll be prepared :) Robin T ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 23 Sep 1998 01:32:35 +0100 (BST) From: IT Admin - Govt Office North West Subject: Re: Alloy: My new bike At 23:12 21/09/98 EDT, Robin wrote: > > >Maybe the riding position problem is what caused me to have to stop riding >recently. Getting the right bike seems to be a much more precise science than it was when I were a lad, or maybe it's just that I'm not as supple as I was then, so it may be more critical now to fit the bike to ME rather than the other way around. The literature I've been reading on the subject suggests that even adjustments of a fraction of an inch, here or there, can make all the difference. I took the Trek back to the shop today, and am negotiating to exchange it for a a tourer similar to my old one. It'll cost a bit more, but if it feels better it'll be worth it. I might even take up cycling seriously again, instead of just riding to and from work. In the meantime, Robin, put a cold flannel on it until the swelling goes down. You are very welcome! Stephen and I, like others on this list, believe that it's much more enjoyable to share the Dolby rarities (and not-so-rarities) with folks who really appreciate them than to hoard them for ourselves. I listened to A&H on my commute the other day and found myself hoping that Mark was listening to it at the same time just so we could have a shared moment. And a very large thank you goes to my fellow Illinois native, Melissa, who told us all about eBay! As of today, Stephen and I are the proud owners of a copy of _The Pirate Twins_, the partial inspiration for the song and beloved book from TMDR's mom's childhood. I've been searching for a copy ever since I had the privilege of holding *the* copy in 1985 (much eye rolling, exasperated sighs, and mutterings of "She really is insufferable, isn't she?" fully expected from the Alloy faithful but I hope that at least a few of you will indulge me in my only claim to fame :-). Thanks again, Queen of the Quad Cities and of Points Beyond! Oh, and, Elaine, there's so much to love about you already that it's icing on the cake that you're a Cubs fan too! How 'bout that Sammy Sosa, huh? "Hey hey, holy mackerel, no doubt about it, the Cubs are on their way!" You really got to hold it, Mary? What a great treat that must have been.. and as far as being insufferable.. not to worry! I wouldn't mind getting my mitts on such an item.. even if just for a moment to feel the inspiration oozing from it.. Ciao for now..
