["Michael and Denise Luckey" > Astronauts & Heretics is truly an incredible work. I am continually impressed by Thomas' musicianship in all his work, & his abillity to communicate his ideas to his audience so vividly through music... combining his words, melodies, and his structural arrangement of various elements in each piece to really create worlds for the imagination. I am much more used to this sort of thing when it's expressed through visual arts, since that's what I've been surrounded with most of my life... hearing an artist achieve the same sorts of 'visual' effects using music is so mysterious and amazing to me. He does it every time... but I have no idea how it's even possible to do it once! I have always thought that Thomas would probably be a wonderful painter or sculptor because it seems the same creative impulses may come into play. I would love to see another film of his someday. Speaking of Dolby specs, I had a pair custom made in '85 as my regular glasses which I still wear to this day. They hurt like hell due to the wrap-around earpiece but I've learned to live with it. I've often wondered what all those folfs did with the specs they handed out for "Europa" at the beginning of the Live Wireless video. Anyone have any ideas? Cioppino, parrots, geeks, & etc. Wow! I had no idea of the deluge that was gonna create! To all: First of all, I did have cioppino. Thanks to everyone who was able to recommend a place! I did not go to Scoma's, though they had one right on the pier in Sausalito....sorry, the messages from the list came through when I was already on my way to the airport. But what I had was pretty tasty. To Robin: Greys are pretty amazing creatures, aren't they? My Congo, Kianga, is good about not chewing, except for chair backs, but I have two timnehs (a subspecies) as well (named Koga and Kelele) who have destroyed a nice pine dresser. But who knows, maybe they will decide to nest in the top drawer, and that would be kinda cool, wouldn't it? To you geeks out there: Well, I knew I couldn't be the only one, and yes, I think Crackers gets the prize - it was the robotic barometric dog that did it for me ;-). All those threads deserve more than these cursory comments, but I'm still getting out from under the load of e-mail that piled up during my trip, so I apologize. Maybe later I can tell you about my trip, I know you'll especially want to hear the parts about getting knocked down by a California sea lion, and jumping on an elephant seal (and NOT jumping on a harbor porpoise!). Oh, and did I mention that my male dusky Pionus makes a barking sound that sounds just like a sea lion?
