They're these wee things that go on the tail that let you fine tune the strings because it's a real pain in the ass to get a good tuning using nothing but the wooden pegs. Well I look down, and there at my feet is a violin tail with fine tuners built in. And it's in perfect shape too. It was trash day on this street and the garbage men had already been by to collect. The tail was sitting near an empty recycling bin and a turned up trash can. Evidently someone had just chucked a presumably broken violin and the trash men had left behind the tail. I was quite thrilled with this fortunate piece of luck, scooped it up and took it home and installed it on my fiddle. Works like a charm. >> Cool violin story :) !! I believe the cost of such things is comparable to cassettes, however. As far as the wherewithal goes, I will put forth that at this time it appears Keith will be handling the mailings and the duplication and the graphics package. Way to go, Keith!!! I will offer such support as I may, but Keith has really taken the bull by the horns, and seems comfortable doing so. If any cassettes are required I will perform the necessary functions. But again I ask, "Who is going to want a cassette over a CD?" Not a one, I'll wager. Anyway, hold your breath or something. We'll figure out the monies in due course. I do not expect exorbitant costs, by any means. But right now, let's just concentrate on getting the project done and delivered to Thomas. One last: Keith will not receive the CD master until about October 11th, so we won't get our copies of the Tribute until, probably, the end of that month. And speaking of violins. Some of you might remember a year or so ago I told you about this wierd dream I had about Thomas playing a violin made entirely out of maple (and I mean entirely... body, neck, fingerboard, bridge, strings, entire bow). I was wondering, besides keyboards does Thomas play any other instruments? Does he infact play violin? Did he play another instrument in, say, the school band as a wee lad? Does he play guitar? I seem to recall seeing a photo of him sitting on stage once playing a guitar, but maybe it's someone else I'm thinking of (and no, I'm not confusing his Casio AX-1 strap on for a guitar). He was sitting in a chair with an accoustic guitar. Or maybe that was just a dream too. And speaking of "strap ons"... I remember an embarrassing situation that occured once when I was in Long & McQuad's (Toronto music store famous for it's anual "Garage Sales"). I had bought a bunch of stuff and Beena asked me, "Is there anything we need to get?" "Nope, that's it." I said but then remembered something and exclaimed, "Oh wait! We need to get some batteries for the 'strap on'." Every conversation in the store stopped and all eyes were on us. "No!" I tried to explain, "I mean batteries for my strap on midi controller." But in return all I got was the "yeah, right." look. Beena doesn't go to music stores with me much anymore.
