The Italy - France game was good.. but the final shootout was a difficult one to watch. .particularly since Italy also lost four years ago in the final to Brazil on a shootout. and yes.. Elizabeth.. I think it was Baggio that missed then too.. poor guy.. at least he can be thankful he isn't from Columbia.. Ciao for now.. It looked like it was when I saw it.. but then I had to quickly shut off the TV and go to a meeting.. I had been playing hooky to watch.. Ahhh well.. Ciao for now.. Baggio is still on the team and did perform in the 1998 shootout, but they placed him second or third in line. We were joking, "awww... he's not 5th??" On a different note, happy birfday dear Paul! I'll have a bevvy and say CHEERS MATE in your honor. - -- Elaine Linstruth Palmdale, CA (USA) On Tue, 7 Jul 1998 CJMark@aol.com wrote: > I meant Elaine.. and oh.. it wasn't him that missed this time? Throw another tinny on the barbie, tie your kangaroo down, sport, while you're camped by that Billy Bong (whoever HE is) and pass me that roll of Durex, the gum on the envelope containing your card is as sticky as a pair of fetid dingos kidneys. And for goodness sake don't chunder all over me strides, mate, I only washed 'em in March. Slarvibarglhee ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 07 Jul 1998 22:47:18 -0400 From: "Melissa R. Jordan" Subject: Alloy: Information, Please Hello, folks. Sorry I've been silent since returning. Between illness and wallowing in more than a wee bit of self-pity over the past month or so (don't ask - -- it concerns unrequited love, being stood up for a "Norwegian Love Goddess," and the loss of my business license), so I haven't felt very chatty. Regardless, congrats to Dr. Beth (yay!!) and all our birthday kids. Get well wishes to Obi-Wan Arachnid From Hell (now you know why all the Jedi are extinct -- they didn't go to the doctor soon enough and were consumed by flesh-eating bacteria!!!) and our other illin' folks. And... a question... Has the deadline date passed for all things birthday tape and other creative venture-oriented? Like I said, I'm outta touch... yet I have this sudden desire to sing (a capella -- I don't read music and can't even play the kazoo) on tape. If I've missed the deadline, then I'll just continue singing in the car. It's good therapy. Anyway, I hope you all are well and happy. After the past month, I'm neither just yet, but I'm working on it... The smile still needs a jump start in the morning, but it's always nice to start the day by reading everyone's posts -- makes me feel like I'm tied to a community somewhere! Oh -- do any of you remember an AWFUL Paul Bartel movie from the '70's called "Death Race 2000?" I make references to it all the time -- my mom still calls really bad drivers "Herman the German," a character from the firm. Guess what? My boss was Herman the German!!! I know I made a Death Race 2000 reference in front of him last month, but I had no idea that he was in it. Oy vey!!! Take care, all. Cheers, Melissa - -- Melissa R. Sorry to hear .. or rather.. not hear.. about your loss to the Norwegian Love Goddess.. however.. if it's any consolation.. I've heard that Norwegian Love Goddesses are very difficult to get sobered up enough to give any love.. Cheers.. Get your songs recorded and mailed off ASAP!!!! Also double check this list to make sure your Dibb has been recorded. As well Kieth has volunteered to do the J-Cards this year and to even make CD copies for those who want one. If nobody else has any objections this is fine by me. So let's get those title suggestions for this year's project in. Hmmmm.... "The Getting Older Age Of Wireless"? Anyways, here's the last set of dibbs I've posted. I have a feeling I may have missed some during my absence. So please send me your dibb if you don't see it here. As well, don't forget that in addition to a Dolby cover you can submit an original work as well for the B-Side. And those who lack musical experience but want to contribute can send a recorded B-day message. Although, where the heckety heck are we sending these things? I think it's to Stephen M. Tilson... right? And the birthday greeting go to Ian Gifford? Maybe somebody could post those addresses. To: alloy@smoe.org,igifford@hotmail.com Subject: Project B-Day ][ DIBBS.
