Well, I read this and thought, "Thomas Dolby twice a day? This I've gotta hear!" and checked it out this morning. Sure enough, on the "popular" channel (they have three), the third song I heard was "She Blinded Me with Science." The fourth was "I Love You Goodbye." So indeed, they must play him a lot. The other selections are pretty cool too. However, I have one question for Melissa -- how do you deal with all the static and other odd distortions when the Internet is busy? I mean, I have a cable modem (don't hate me, everyone!), and still got a fair amount of static when RealPlayer couldn't quite get its data fast enough. Toward the end of "I Love You Goodbye," it was bad enough to actually go into that funny stuttering effect, sort of like when a CD goes bad. This was at 10 am on a Saturday morning -- I can only imagine what it's like on early afternoons on weekdays, when the Internet seems to bog down to molasses speed. Thanks for the tip, anyway! Well, not incredibly often, but when "Astronauts & Heretics" came out, the way that I heard of it was that the local "new music" station, WNNX, played "Eastern Bloc" and "I Love You Goodbye" a certain amount. I remember just driving around and hearing "I Love You Goodbye" for the first time, with no comment from the announcer, and suddenly realizing -- "Oh my God, it's a Thomas Dolby song that I've never heard before!" They haven't played much from A&H lately, though. Still, they have a show called "The House of Retro Pleasure" every weekday from noon to 1:00 (Eastern Standard time), and a show called "Resurrection Sunday" on Sundays from noon to 4:00. Both of those shows tend to play Thomas' stuff pretty often, and not just "Science." I remember one day I had worked at home in the morning and was hurrying down to school for the afternoon. I jumped in the car at about 12:15, started it up, and immediately heard the opening strains of "One of our Submarines" on the radio. Cool... If you want to check out either of these shows, you can catch them at: http://www.com/99x/index.html They claim to be the first radio station to broadcast over the Internet, but I'm not sure if that's true. It's kinda funny now, though -- every so often they'll read off requests that they got via e-mail from someone in, say, Alabama. I mean, I have Hey, Beth! (and anyone else who's tried CTSNET) I don't know what the deal is. I've been listening for about 3-4 months, and I've never encountered that stuttering disk sound, but, sure enough, when I logged on tonight (stuck in the office on a Saturday night - EVIL!!!) there was all this awful mess. It was funny because I was getting frustrated listening and was just about to turn off my Real Player when I got to Beth's message, so now I know it's not just me... Maybe they're having a crisis right now, but, when things are running smoothly, it's not too bad! (However, right now, it does bite.) Cheers, Melissa Melissa R.
