We didn't watch the superbowl either. In fact I'd enirely forgotten about it & was working in the studio when I heard men shouting and crashing around in the apartment upstairs, and thought someone was being attacked. Only when I heard the same noise coming from the building across our back parking lot did I remember about the superbowl. OK, was this an intentional pun or a Freudian slip? Either way, it was incredibly apt, given the subject matter of the discussion. (Of course, the true French spelling would be "voila," but then it wouldn't be the name of a classic stringed instrument, would it?) But really, it's not the plates moving that kills people--after all, they only move at like 2 cm per year. It's the people who build houses on the fault lines that die....same as the people who build houses on floodplains and in dry, overgrown canyons. :) :) *B* ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 27 Jan 1998 18:04:18 EST From: RThurF Subject: Alloy: voila/viola? Thanks JAMac - I just know it was intentional and not a typo at all (I just hope nobody starts pointing out my own millions of typos per post :) Robin ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 27 Jan 1998 21:40:34 -0700 From: Keith Stansell Subject: Re: Alloy: Please Allow Me To Brag Dennis S. (How stupid can people get? I mean really? "WE WON. LET'S > CREAM > OUR OWN TOWN!" Duh.) Just to be fair, I was downtown with all the people down there, on the block where the cars were turned over. It was a very very small group of people who were doing this. Most of the people downtown were giving each other high-fives, hugging total strangers, and having a generally good time. Luckily my friends and I ducked into a resturant/bar where one of our frinds worked just before the police decided it was getting a bit out of hand outside. It was a bit surreal to sit there sipping a margarita while people are running from the police who were spraying them with pepper spray. My eyes and nose were burning inside the resturant. I guess it's good they stopped it before it got worse, but just don't think EVERYONE downtown was out of hand. Just a few. Today downtown streats were filled with 650,000 people for a parade for the players. There were no incidents.
