It was the only episode with any plot, designed to give the viewers some context in which to place Max, who was conceived primarily to be a music video host. Subsequent episodes were basically music video shows, at least the few I caught on cable at the time. The American series took the world invented in the pilot, sanitized some elements of it (like Bryce the wonder kid) and turned it into the cyber-drama-com we came to know. It occurs to me, this may be the last thing I ever send on our old Mac - with any luck the new PC arrives today. I'll miss this cranky little Mac though...! If Dave and I are gone for a few days it only means I'm fussing with the new computer & Dave is trying to teach me all about it. Wish me luck!!! !!!!!!HAPPY 1998!!!!!! In the UK I think we had the 'VJ' series first, then the pilot with the blipverts, but I don't think we ever had American series. I really enjoyed the VJ series, but to my knowledge it's never been repeated over here, which is a pity. Some of it was really funny, and some of the vids shown were not usually seen anywhere else (e.g. Jesse Rae's 'Over The Sea' (well, I think that was its name) and King Kurt's 'Destination Zululand' to name but two. They're BOUND to show it again eventually, probably on cable but which channel, and when? BH PS New Year's Greetings to all Alloyers, hope you're all in fine fettle and the new year brings good things for us all, espsecially those of us about to start new jobs and those of us with dodgy knees. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 31 Dec 1997 10:52:39 EST From: AlgieArch Subject: Alloy: HAPPY HAPPY While I think of it , I did get the Live Letterman album, which may appeal to some people.... for the romantics, the Elvis Costello/ B Bacharach tune is Very interesting, Crooning sad Elvis with Burts Horn Arrangements and a few vocal In Uend oes. Now *I* can send mail to you which will be post marked a year ahead of your goodselves (with the exception of Neil L, The _Copse and one or two others). The Hogmanay Show is on the TV (James Taylor is singing 'Carolina'), fireworks are going off outside and my kids have gone off to their own festivities. Lang may your lumb reek.
