Lissu calling, finally having got my feet FIRMLY back on the ground (I hate flying) in the UK for a cool yule. Having caught up on the mail, it was unnerving to read about the happening in Japan,.. I don't usually admit it, but I'm a huge max headroom fan (have been since the series was shown the first time in the UK,...I've all but three episodes on video,)...my first reaction was of think of the blipverts episode,...I think the fact that the whole series was a satire,..(they looked at crooked tv evangelists, shady politics, censorship, the morals of journalists to mention a few subjects) was great, and also missed by quite a few,...it's a shame that it got cancelled before the third season. I never thought that something like this could happen though,...I knew about the phenomena of flashing lights sometimes causing problems for some epileptics, but it hardly seems possible that so many kids could go undiagnosed with this condition,..it makes the mind boggle to think what could have caused this... I only hope that nothing else from the series becomes a reality,..such as churches ressurection cloning programs and terrorists doing deals with TV stations for exclusive coverage of their bombs blowing up! As for Amanda Pays, I think she and Corben Bernstein had twins together, last I heard,..and the last thing I saw her in was an episode of X-files, where she played mulders old flame from his university years,... well,...back to the real world! I'm not sure how much time I'll have to check my alloy messages over the holiday, but I'd like to wish all the alloyites a very very merry holiday,....in the meatime, back to my mother's cooking (YUM)!!! P.S. copse,..We'll call you shortly! P.P.S. anyone else got any Max Headroom taped? ---------- >From: alloy >To: alloy >Subject: RE: Alloy: Blipverts & Amanda Pays >Date: 20. Yep, the whole American series (not the British stuff), including the episode ABC didn't air...it finally came around on the Bravo cable channel last year, and I grabbed it--eight years late! I also have "The Max Talking Headroom Show" off of Cinemax, where he did mostly interviews. Hmmm, I'll have to dig that out of the tape pile... Why make a free software expire? It gives you no information other than, "Beatnik has expired!" Well, no shit! I already despise Windoze, but boot it just to do this sort of thing, then it's Beatnik that won't cooperate. What a pain. Can any of you Headspace folk bring me out of my mostly-Microsoft-induced tizzy with some information? - -- Elaine Linstruth Palmdale, CA (USA) ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 23 Dec 1997 21:50:40 -0500 From: "Curtis C. While I can't answer for Headspace, as a developer, I do want everyone to be using the latest updates to ensure that bugs are weeded out regularly. Up to a third of my time is spent making hacks for a specific bug in a specific version of software that users haven't upgraded because they are not aware of the problems. To my dismay I had to upgrade Beatnik two weeks ago too, happily you will only ne a small patch if you already had the latest version. cch. _______C u r t i s C.
