Hey y'all, Fire up your web browser and point it to: http://www.thehub.com.au/~paulb/scrap/scrapbook.html Yep, I finally managed to scrap a couple of hours together and get the scrapbook pages done. If it doesn't look good on your browser (and I'm not necessarily saying it'll look good anywhere!) let me know: this is a bit of an experiment with new designs, frames, etc. and it was done while imbibing the odd Coopers Ale or two (deem it said that it shows!) ...and ...and oh enough excuses, just go take a look and put some faces to those names. :-) stay well, Paul. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 2 Nov 1997 11:44:14 -0500 From: Melissa Jordan Subject: Re: Alloy: Another auspicious occasion... This has set me thinking, well, not that you wet yourself, but that the nicked gnome amused you. And I wonder if our friends in the U.S. Scandinavia and the antipodes know what a garden gnome is. Is this just an English ornament or do the colonials have them as well? I think we should be told. And if they have them, do they suffer the same fate as so many owners in the UK seem to, where the said gnomes disappear only to send post cards from various destinations around the world and then reappear in the owner's garden some time later, sometimes with a holiday sun tan? Hi, Paul; >Yep, I finally managed to scrap a couple of hours together and get the >scrapbook pages done. Yay! Woo-hoo! Cool! Awesome! Take a bow! It was really cool to be browse this. Several people looked nothing at all as I'd imagined -- several were much younger, for example(!). I still think that crackers bears an uncanny resemblance to John Flansburgh, the member of They Might Be Giants who does NOT play accordian. And Robin, my goodness, what were you doing striking a pose like that in a CEMETERY? (There now, Paul, if that doesn't get you lots of hits, nothing will.) But what amazed me most was how MUCH Slarv looked as I'd always imagined him. Very much like the sort of person with whom you'd love to share a pint. I also thought the interface was really neat and worked well. My only small quibble would be about feeling slightly left out (snif, snif) after having sent a pointer to the photos at my web site, http://www.prism.gatech.edu/~gt9020a. But of course, since anyone here can go there directly (the photos are through the "Photo Album" link on the home page), there's no real urgent need there! Great work, Paul! Most of the lawn decorations tend to be plastic pink flamingos, halfway-buried wheel rims, or (shudder) those little painted figures of persons of African descent in red jackets holding an arm up. I understand that big cement geese are also popular in some areas. However, having seen "The Full Monty," I found the garden gnome reference pretty hysterical myself. Thanks for the enlightenment on the globe-trotting garden gnomes, though... I'm going to send in a picture! (And I was female the last time I checked... as far as pleasant male company goes, you have to share! Especially Thomas!! ;) ) Am waiting for a friend to scan it in. I sent it to him for another web site, he says he'll have it for me sometime this week. It is the -only- picture of me that I really like for quite a while (in other words, take it or leave it ;) )... -- E(lipse ------------------------------ End of alloy-digest V2 #239 ***************************
