And I love it when you guys actually speak English, rather than boring old American. You lost me with the nipper and fettle bit, but it certainly made things more interesting. OK, Queen's English lesson begins here :- Nipper = young child, but I don't know why, though I could hazard a guess, and most mums (= mothers) probably could as well, especially when the nipper's teething. Fettle = condition, i.e. 'in fine fettle' means in good condition, or in this case, 'feeling well.' Hi there, I just thought I'd share my thoughts with the list as I finally found a copy of The Flat Earth on CD yesterday, and was totally blown away. Although I'm still fairly hazy on the order of Thomas' discography, I presume that it counts as the 'early stuff' right? But wow, isn't it grea= t? Not just the fantastic production and arrangements and the rest of it, bu= t the sheeer scope - it's so far out. If you think of the kind of bumbling rubbish alot of people were turning out in 1983, it's even more remarkabl= e. I really love the acoustic bass and funky guitar - and that woman on Hyperactive - whoa! As a side point, TFE is the first CD I've bought for many months - is the= re loads of good new music out there that I just don't know about, or is pop= as dead as it seems? Any suggestions for fulfilling listening would be greatly appreciated........................ Crackers (jolliest congrats!!),and Ian - any sign of my tape turning up yet? Please do let me know as soon as possible if you have any worries so= I can arrange a courier! Princess, welcome back, it's always good to hear from an old FES friend. How's the little one? ok, signing off! the_copse = ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 23 Sep 1997 15:27:35 -0700 From: electrix Subject: Re: Alloy: A revelation & other matters Tim Dunn wrote: > > As a side point, TFE is the first CD I've bought for many months - is there > loads of good new music out there that I just don't know about, or is pop > as dead as it seems?
